Does anyone remove GSA side pannier racks

I am not going to use panniers that often and now seen a few pics of the GSA without the pannier racks. I know I will lose some protection for the rear exhausts, but has anyone done this or regretted it after?

I like the look at on a TB, I think it looks better.

My brother did it. Only puts them on when he is going touring. Also put a GS rear rack on.

It near impossible to search for the GS rear rack on line, it comes up with rear rack mounting plates. Did he get the GS rack direct from BMW Reggie? Rich

The pannier rack comes off in one piece, so easy to take on and off when you’re not on tour

Yes. He did. They do come up on here from time to time, and on EBay.

Why would you, they don't get the way and alot cheaper to replace than damaged exhaust or bodywork if the bike is dropped but everyone to their own!

on my 3rd GSA and removed the scaffold on all of them, and havn't regretted it. Unless you have metal panniers on all the time why would you keep it on ?

Same for me; I've have always had the scaffold removed by the dealer before delivery.

I have a GS and put metal rails on, saved my exhaust numerous times and makes it easier to get hold of when stuck. But most GSA’s never see the dirt anyway. If I only rode on the road I’d take them off when not needed

The bike looks infintely better, looks quite sporty unclothed. Looks like it means business, ready for anything you throw at it.

You will need spacers for the callipers, new wheel spacers and a smaller mud guard.

Are you waiting for an R1200RS wheel?
