(Dredging up an older one, sorry) but does anyone have either the Aoocci or CMPC 6 inch unit ...or exactly the same unit from elsewhere? 
If so, does yours work on a USB charger when it's off the bike?
On bog standard usb2 Type A or Type C charger it takes 5 volt and a max of 1 amp ...but keeps resetting.
On a smart charger it doesn't talk to the charger so just sits at 0 volt
On a smart charger, if I introduce a usb tester and set the PD to 5 volt, again it keeps rebooting
If I set the PD to 9 volt (as high as I can get out of my current charger) it powers up perfect as it should, and when you disconnect it the unit takes a few seconds to die, just like on the bike.
If you are quick enough and lower the brightness it will stop rebooting on 5 volt
Supplier says it needs 12 volt (fair enough) ...but if there is no PD negotiation from the device it gets nothing so it is either faulty, poor design, or they need to supply a cable with a PD decoy/trigger.
I'm trying to work out if this is faulty, or they all do that?
