Does the TT tankbag obscure BMW Navigator?

I have got a Garmin 2610 GPS mounted on the BMW Navigator handelbar bracket. I want to buy a Touratech tankbag but am nervous that it will obscure all or part of the GPS screen.
Can anyone with a TT tankbag advise whether the rider can still see the centre of bars?
Or should I just bite the bullet and re-mount the GPS above the instruments?
Have done a site search but could not find an answer to this question.
many thanks
Peter

Mount It Higher Up

I have a TT tankbag but not the Nav II mount on the bars. From the outset I didn't want to be looking downward and fiddling with my 2610. Just too risky in my books. Instead opted for MotorradConcepts shorter GPS mount over the clocks. To get the swivel up and down adjustability to adapt to varying sunlight and bring it slightly closer so I didn't have to lean so far forward (and I am 5' 11 1/2" tall) I added a Ram 2 1/2" round mount with 1 " ball to the Motorrad CNC'd piece using aluminum spacers and the longer of the supplied mounting screws. Then used a 1 7/8 " Ram Arm, then to another Ram 1 1/2 inch round mount with ball and through bolted this to the Garmin Motorcycle Mount. Puts everthing nicely up so I can keep eyes on the road and the unit is very easy to operate and has added adjustability for tilt depending on prevailing sunlight conditions. Am very happy with this setup. :D

Pics please

Any chance you can post up a pic or two for us?

I want to relocate my gps above the clocks for better visibility and so I can get some bar risers on.

Thanks.

Skippy.

Roger. I don't know if you looked at the posting a photo FAQ but if you haven't it might help you (he says hopefully).

In the meantime I'll PM you my email address and if you can't post them I'll do it for you.

cheers Derek

i have a TT tank bag and a BMW Nav 11 fitted to the handlebars of my bike, no problems seeing the GPS, with the TT bag in the standard setup, however i have not used the bag extended and i think this may partly abstruct the view of the GPS.
I have all the room i require in the TT bag in it's unextended form so it works well for me.

Thanks for the answer, have now ordered the TT bag.
Saw the BMW bag at a dealer and could not believe how huge it was. Could double as a bike cover when parked.....
cheers

Pictures Commentary

Thanks for the hand in posting Derek! Grainey but will give the idea. First picture shows the Ram 2 1/2 inch universal mount with 1" ball attached to the MRC mount using four aluminum spacers and the longer of the MRC supplied screws. Second picture shows the Ram 1 3/4 " short arm open on both ends gripping the 1" ball of an identical Ram 2 1/2 " universal mount which is attached to the Garmin Motorcycle mount using Garmin's supplied screws with its mount. The Garmin screws are too long but will fix that soon. Third pic shows TT tankbag clearance. The fourth shows the view from driver's eyes with hands on bars. Lots of clearance with TT tankbag and setup is well clear of the clocks. This setup allows easier movement of the 2610 for best visibility in sunlight and brings it slightly forward making it easier to operate than if it was just screwed directly onto the MRC GPS mount. A more flexible solution and happy with this setup.:bounce1

I also looked at the BMW bag and it would'nt even fit on my bike with my sat-nav in place and even if it would fit you would not be able to see the sat-nav screen.
You'll be well chuffed with your TT bag (when it turns up) good choice.

Tank Bags?

Well if you wan to spend all your money with TT, when you could be saving some, hey, who am I to argue.

However there is an alternative that saves money and space, without waiting for TT.

There should be enough links by now to show you how to get one.
