Left Newcastle to Ijmuiden Ferry on the 29. May 2013
My Friend and his misuses are into Harley's.....
. Headed to Ruedesheim on the Rhine. Stayed here for3 nights (Magic Bike Week)a Harley Meet, did my own thing up and down the Rhine and a visit to POLO huge Bikers gear shop in Koblenz
Left Sunday 2.june to Nesselwang in the Allgaeu. Stayed here one night (www.pension-silberdiestel.de) nice place geared for bikers garage etc. and very reasonable ca.30 Euros a night.
Next day over the Brenner autobahn into to Italy and the Dolomites. We stayed here for 4 nights and did all the local passes Campitello Di Fassa. Excellent Hotel
(www.granparadis.com) with everything a biker would want. Great food nice pool and outside jacuzzi sauna etc. just the thing after a days ride in the mountains
Back to Garmisch for one night, unfortunately to early for the BMW-DAYS
Next day to Bamberg, stayed at (www.gasthof-rieneck.de) again excellent Bikers hotel for around 30 Euros, great food and beer and schnapps
Left in the morning with a wee bit of a sure heed, and headed to the Sauerland.
Stayed at Wiilingen Hotel (sauerlaenderhof.eu) again all geared for Bikers.
Next day via Dortmund back to Amsterdam(ijmuiden) and ferry back home to newcastle
All in all a great trip, would I do it again eh yeah but not with a Harley-couple,to slow at times, hang always to far back etc.at junctions I had to wait for them to turn up and so on. And his frigging Sat Nav drove me mad. I personelly prefer a map and use my sat nav as a back up.
Will definatlely go back to the Dolomites, but take the ferry from Hull to Rotterdam far quicker and better service all round and also less expensive.
DFDS,s prices are getting silly and less service every time!!!
Would probably take the (www.bahn.de/autozug.) Car and Bike Train from Duesseldorf to Bozen to save the long journey on the roads.
Excuse me English as I am half a kraut......
