He wants to build the biggest and best Golfing resort on the planet pouring billions into the economy but the NIMBY's are up in arms. Everyone of them that I have heard as a mouth piece on the news has been from south of the border.

Now Salmond and SNP is being taken to task and being blamed for the sacking of Aberdeen council chief.

He should have been shot never mind sacked.

Didn't that get refused palnning a week or two ago? Trump said he had no further plans for Scotland, appears he had one farmer not prepared to sell his land at amazing prices.

Aberdeen city Council head sacked over it looks like a go'er

It's not the farmers it's the full time green wellied barbour wearing labrador walker's that are up in arms

Bout time Scotland used it's natural rescources rather than being an industrial dumping ground for our neighbours

too late - he's coming to God's own country :clap

Big Ian secured it

Bit of a p__s take as far as most of the locals are concerned - only two months ago a bloke got turned down for planning on a 1 1/2 storey 3 bed next to the A90 and then Trump wanders in and gets the nod for 900 in an area of SSSI! Trumps 'man' has been going around for a while prior to it going public buying up land and houses that will be needed using an assumed name - allegedly.

The major reason it p's me off is that we'll have to take an effin huge detour coming back onshore so that the helicopter noise doesn't annoy the golfers!!

Everyone of them that I have heard as a mouth piece on the news has been from south of the border.

Please bear in mind, when slaggin of the great Alex Salmond, that most of the support for the SNP comes from England :D:D

So where was your support when I wanted to open my golf resort ?

Ah Progressive modern thinking place where the motorway stops 80 miles short of the city, and the first bridge into Aberdeen is the 12th Century Bridge of Dee.

Aberdeen does want to rush into these kind of new fangle decisions (Ever)

:rob:thedummy

Yep Aberdeen council doesn't like rushing into things - first enquiry into an Aberdeen bypass.....1948!!

and it's still not built!

I'd just love to know where are the commercial rates and income from the oil boom have gone - not much evidence of it having been spent on anything tangible

Well that's an easy one to answer. Aberdeen must have the biggest and most progressive archive in the whole of the UK, storing all those reports and studies that they have never implemented. :nenau

So some guy with so much money he doesn't know what to do with it comes to a foreign country gets his paid henchment to con the local cooncillors that his plan will single handedly boost the economy of Aberdeenshire to levels hitherto unknown, slags of the locals for being small minded, plans his white elephant so that it trashes a protected site of scientific interest, manages to get an offshore wind farm moved so his uber rich clientel don't have to look at it, bullys the only council officials who are actually following the planning guidelines and then goes in the huff because his application fails. Well good - maybe if he tried to understand why the sand dunes are so precious and was abit more sympathetic to the local people and adapted his plans to suit instead of trying to buy people off he would have got his precious planning permission. Of course he still might thanks to our so called democratically elected government sacking some bloke who was only doing his job and running roughshod over our planning system. Calling all fat cat developers - if you want to f*** up Scotlands countryside step right up - you just need some half baked estimates of how much revenue your mad plan will create and you'll get it through on the nod (and the back hander).

And its not just about stopping barbour wearing green wellied walkers - access rights are for everyone and Trumps plans would have knackered access to a large stretch of coastline for everybody excpet his over paid customers. Its also refreshing to see that environmental considerations have actually managed to stop a development instead of the usual case of being ignored. The reason Scotland has such unique scenery and natural heritage is because a lot of people fight tooth and nail to stop such damaging developments - they mostly get written off as spoilsport tree hugging eco warriors but they do a good if thankless job.

Maybe I should have put this in the forum rant section.

When I first heard about this I thought it was a case of nimbyism too, but when you read the full story it does seem that Trump and his people have refused to negotiate at all with the planners, and are trying to use his high profile to bully and blackmail to get their way. I am involved in a property project at work, and the planners are only doing their job, and you have to be prepared for a bit of coming and going, not just demand 100%, then throw your toys out the pram if you don't get your way.
Having followed the story in more detail I think the guy is a bullying prima donna, and I don't care if he takes his project to somebody more willing to be bullied.
