Thinking of getting a Top Box for "Arty" as a Christmas Box. But don't really want to spent £700+ on BMW Box. I saw one the other day and it looked like mismatch in colour when it was supposed to be the same. Seen Givi box from a distance which looked smart and not out of place but it was on the move and didn't get to speak to the rider. Anybody with suggestions please and will I need additional attachments? Any suggestions appreciated (well sensible ones at least):green gri

I could be wrong, but I think Rong posted a thread on here about his Givi top box and how to wire in the RT central locking to it. To be honest, I think the Givi top box he posted pics of looks better than the BMW one. Maybe try using search to find it?

I know exactly what you mean about the price of the BM boxes. I have a Hepco box, that is just the perfect size for my needs, and was in use, on a specialised rack/frame on my GS until I got a 14 RT. I've phoned around but cannot get a rack to suit that box on the new bike. A universal rack from Motobins sitting ontop of the RT rack, would make the box sit too far out over the back.
During my searching, I saw a BM box for an RT advertsied on Ebay from a BM dealer in Germany. It was about £350 with p&p to the UK given as £15. I emailed them asking if it would fit the 2014 model, but was told that it wouldn't. I assume that the rack on the 14 model differs in some way from 2012 and earlier, but as I am new to the RT bikes, I dunno. I'll wait until next year and if no-one is making a specialised rack by then, settle to use a poly bag.

The RT box will fit on the 2014 model with no trouble, it just slots on as usual, I know as I'm using my old box off of my 11 RT. As an aside; if your using a Evo 6 helmet then put it in the bag it's supplied with as it's really easy to scratch on protruding screws on the inside of the box :-(

Best time to buy a BMW box is when you buy the bike new (and these are mostly new bikes), negotiate it in with the deal, I got mine half list price.

Strod what Givi model is it and did you require an attachment for it to go on you 2014LC

It's not my bike I'm afraid, I bought my RT LC with a few hundred miles on the clock complete with the BMW top box, I just remembered seeing Rong's posts about the Givi option.
