Double hard Wild Wild West event

Yep, I was here soon after 3pm, the dog instantly found a stream to play in then we walked to the pub.

The others have headed back but I’m still sat here in the warm where the dog has been getting more attention than she knows what to do with. I’ll be away for a decent walk in the morning then home on New Year’s Eve :okay

Well done! Enjoy your brief visit...it's a stunning part of the world.....and then you meet Micky.....

You'll be best staying where you are....the others will be drinking whisky and talking shite...

.... and we all know where you'd be :D

Great meal in the pub, should've taken photographs :blast

As good a pint of Guinness you'll find outside of Ireland :aidan

A walk to the viewpoint this morning ...

Good to meet up with Andy, a face to the name .... :thumby:

Good one Andy, great to meet up :thumb2

I think Martin (Santa) gets the medal though .... by the time he gets home it'll have been a 1,000+ mile round trip, for two nights camping in shit conditions.

Good one Santa ... good to see you again :thumb2

:beerjug:

And he left this morning

I don’t envy him the ride back home because the cameras showed fresh snow at Tyndrum and it was very windy with a lot of rain down here at low level.

I’ve taken the dog for a 6 mile walk which means she’s done double that so she’s fast asleep on the floor of the cabin I bagged after Martin left but in all fairness, she didn’t whinge last night in the tent which is more than be said for me when I found the zip was broken on my winter sleeping bag so I had to put a coat over the top to keep warm :blast

At least I don’t need to drop my tent in the morning, just throw everything in the truck, take the dog for a quick walk then drive home :D

Oh and the M74 is closed Abingdon, hope Santa gets past OK, the side roads are open just :nenau

Good pic but Martin 'Santa' Amundsen beat em to it.:D

A sterling effort.:beerjug:
It was indeed and if he struggles to get darn sarf, there's accommodation here if he needs it. Plus a garage for the bike. A pm is all that's needed. :thumb2

Well yes the run back was eventfull

The run to Corran was fine, with a sneaky

Last minute spot on the ferry :)

Filled up the other side and checked the snow

cams. Glencoe was clear, Tyndrum was 50/50

I went for it, cold and slush in glencoe,

but the drop into Tyndrum was interesting

Misty and lots of slush

But still passable.

Stopped at Dumbarton for a break, and it estimated anhour to Moffat

Fat chance lol, 8 mile tailback on the 74 due to

flooding - both sides of the road closed

Arrived into Moffat about 2:45

Now for a shower and some food

Good to hear that and not just because it saves me having to tell the missus! :D

Things should be quieter tomorrow. All the best for the New Year! :beerjug:

Last one here at Strontian ... on a very cold morning. Went for a walk in the woods with Chocky first thing. Good job Andy was still here when I got back, the locks on the Camper were frozen solid and couldn't get back in

Andy sourced some hot water and job done. Thanks Andy :thumby:

Home alone ....

Campsite on Islay closed so will head for Arran methinks 3rd/4th January :D

:beerjug:

That’s me away and now sitting waiting for the ferry to set off.

It’s been fun in a slightly disturbing manner because of the bike fiasco but well worth the effort.

Thanks for organising it Santa and thanks to Micky and Alistair as well for pushing me to turn round and come back with the mutt :beerjug:

I had a 45 minute wait for it yesterday, still better than the long way round. Have a good trip

So my pics

The real double hard attendees

Micky, Alistair & Andy

And yes, some of them rode though the snow capped mountains ;)
