Hi all you experts:)
I have started my service and took off the sump guard. It seems like I have two. A smaller inner one and a larger outer one:confused:
Has the previous owner put a bigger sump guard over the original?
I'll try a picture here:

I've left the small inner one off in the mean time.

Mines like that too matey, don't stress it.

Think the first one can be used as a frying pan when out in the desert ;)

That`s the standard arrangement on the 1100...probably so on the 1150 too.

Can anyone say why? The large 'pan' will fit well without the smaller one. The smaller is a heavier guage aluminium, but the big one seems sturdy enough to do the job?

There`s some things in life you just have to accept...leave one,or both, of them off it helps you to sleep better at night :D :D

I 've been running my bike without the smaller plate, can't see the point of it, I don't do all that butch heavy duty dirt riding on it.

You'll regret it when you go camping and you've got nowt to cook your eggs on. Hey ho, if your happy to be unprepared :D

They work ok together, mine is a 99 model, the plates are too flimsy individually, mine have taken huge abuse and I have a large collection of ripped off rubber mounts and the aluminium spacers punched through.

The manuals sometimes show them assembled wrong, as in one between motor and the rubber mount, they should both be below the rubbers.

One tip, if you have bent the plate and panel beaten it back to shape, it is easy to just bolt it back on and use the mounts to pull it up. If you do the mounts are already under tension and the first knock they will shear again.

Take your time, try to beat it right, if not shim with washers so that at least the mounts are fitted stress free, or as I say they fail quickly.
