Douglas Park Motorrad

Thats who I'm getting my GS LC from tomorrow. Garry in sales was great and very helpful.

Yup, I'm booked in Friday for a final drive bearing:( and a sheared bolt.....which they've said they'll drill out foc which is very decent of them.

That's not on the new bike is it? How many miles has the bearing lasted?

NINETEEN thousand!!!!!!!!! The guys at Clarkes said they thought there was a bit of slack, so I went to EK for a second opinion and they agreed....it will probably last a bit longer but I'm off to Austria at the end of the month so I thought best get it done.

I replaced all the (rusty) fasteners with stainless, but the very last one sheared. They said they could drill it out no bother ....foc.

Must say that its a bit disappointing to have to replace A bearings B fasteners on what is only a 5 year old low mileage bike..... One of the footpegs is fine the other very rusty????

And they gave me a brand new LC 1200GS TE and said bring it back tomorrow!!!

Bastards!!

Only trouble was it was pissing with rain or I'd have been in Ullapool for lunch!! I thought I'd head up Loch Lomondside but it looked hoor of a black so I did a right at Alexandria, Gartocharn for breakfast. Rain came on.....hmmm there'll be a mode for that....there was. Heading towards Stirling and I thought to my self rain or not I can't waste a bike like this, so did a left to Aberfoyle, Dukes Pass in the rain....hmmmm surface is a bit bumpy, bound to be a mode for that...and there was. Callander, Lochearnhead, Crieff Perth Stanley home. Very impressed with bike....a bit tall but managed. I see now what an improvement my Givi screen and winglets makes, also Sargent seat. Very impressed with tyres....Tourance Next...

Quite like the look of it in my workshop...hmmmmm

Bastards.

They are really trying hard to make me buy a new bike......just been on the blower....diff done, easyout snapped in the stud(?), calling in a specialist(spark erosion?), just keep the bike 'til we've finished, no charge, we'll speak next week.....oh, and your snapped stud...still foc.

Really first class service from them. Much appreciated.

Now, whats the forecast for the weekend?

Just wanted to throw my own 2p in, a mate and I have both recently acquired bikes from the guys at EK and they've been spot on. Could show other places a thing or two. :thumb

Ignore any other pish appearing in the Scotland department....nearly a whole page quoted from the Grauniad FFS...and all of it bollocks....today, continuing my research into the LC 1200GS TE, I mounted her in the pishing rain at home, A93 north to Crathie Kirk, Gairnshiel, Lecht, fire station caff in Tomintoul. Met up with my mate Pete, who is one of those unfortunates who have had their brand new 1200LC RT's seized by BMW for the foreseeable future. Calterdons have lent him a new old 1200RT for our forthcoming trip to Austria so he needed to get some miles in so it could be serviced before we go.

So off we toddled via Dorback, Nethy Bridge, Boat of Garten, Kingussie, (sun came out) Laggan, Spean Bridge, Torlundy, Glenfinnan, Lochailort, Kinlochmoidart, Acharacle, Strontian. Ardgour, Corran ferry, Glencoe 2 fingers of KitKat and a mug of tea at the Green Welly. Then on to Lix Toll, Killin, Kenmore Aberfeldy, Edradour, Kirkmichael and home for 6. Great day out enjoying the best Scotland has to offer.

The views across to the Small Isles with the Cuillin in the background were stunning.

The bike? A topper. But I would need to get it lower to live with it....that would mean sacrificing the ESA I guess. I would need to get a better seat and a proper screen wouldn't hurt.
I took it out of rain mode and put it in road and it is electric!! The engine is a marvel. The gearbox is smooth and handling superb. Never used cruise control....yet.... wonder how long it'll take to fix my bike.....

I thought riders of your calibre didn't need Jessie settings?

Old and clapped nowadays.....still, a 320 miler!!

Got to take it back tomorrow...mines finished...they had to take the head off and machine out the stud...gulp...but standing by the foc ...damned decent. Good people.

My LC is going in next Tuesday for its 600 mile service and a new kill switch. The kill switch jammed in the off position and I couldn't start it so I had to use a fair bit of force to get it to move. Eventually it moved to the on position and I got it started, but the switch is definitely gubbed. Didn't fancy push starting this big twin.

Bought my LC tail end of last year, cracking bike. Low factory version with standard seat. Works for me ( 30" inside leg ) Alan and his team are top guy's and the showroom and shop are one of the best I've seen in years and I've been in a few showrooms ( Ducati , Honda etc ) Bike will be about 9 months old now ( 1100 mls ) and hasn't given me any trouble whatsoever.

Got my 600 mile service and kill switch replaced last Tuesday and didn't have to wait long too.
Very pleasant bunch of guys and they have the time to chat to you NOT like some garages that are only interested in your money.
Will certainly be back with the GS for its next service.

Nice looking showroom and got a good deal on last season's boots in January but they gave me a not too hot trade-in price for my F650GS without even looking at the bike. Went to Dalkeith and got a fairer deal, but then I bought the wee GS from them in the first place.
