down France over Millau

been away from the comp for a few days, thanks for your further ideas, and yes its certainly my intention to spend a lot more time traveling through Europe and beyond over the next few years. Im happy doing 400 miles a day, dont mind an early start and enjoy the riding as much as i do sitting down with a cold beer! I would love to look at your suggested routes, you sound a well traveled sort of guy and i am eager to learn, my email is [email protected]. Wondered about the Santander route, maybe do that one way and the st.malo route the other......so much choice!!

OK I will dig them out.

Have to say, I went to France last year just to see the bridge which I did but it wasn't the highlight of m week away by any means, far better to use the time to enjoy the roads. There again I have been over the bridge and you haven't !!!

Bridge Toll

Last time I went over it northbound in September 07 the far right lane was free for bikes. Not sure if this is the usual though :nenau

Never done Millau but other toll bridges in France do have a bikes only lane at the last toll bootho the right. :D

Millau

Anyone going to Millau and surrounding gorges the HOTEL DE LA CAPELLE, 7 Pl de la Capelle, 12100 Millau Tel 0565601472 is handily placed in the centre and you can park your steed in the private area outside the front door. Good clean and reasonably priced at 45e per night. Breakfast plus.
Good views of the para-gliding from the bedrooms, tho' you may have made your own arrangements about jumping;)

Routes

OK I will dig them out.

Wapping

I`m planning a "spin" from Ireland down to the bridge in Sept (Leaving Dublin 5th).

Going Dublin - holyhead - Calais - Milliau & back.
Hoping to stay on N&D roads only, covering approx 400-500 k per day
(Back into the UK early 12th)

If it possiblei'd love to get a copy of these routes? ( e mail is [email protected].)

First trip to Europe, so any help is appreciated.:D

Cheers
Dave

Quicker than a quick thing going quickly:

PM me or post up any questions in this thread. Worry not that it's your first trip, you'll be fine. :thumb2

Best tip of all? Good travel and breakdown insurance. They are both as cheap as chips and worth their weight in gold when the wheels really come off.....

We did the routes shown over nine days, as we were not in a rush. It would be easy to cut bits out or not spend a couple of days in some places. Get yourself a couple of good maps (see the sticky) plot the routes out and work in any changes you fancy.

Thanks for that.... really helpful...:oonyack
Getting the maps at the weekend to plot the route etc.
Will use your route as a guide and plan around it. Hope to spend a couple of days around Millau, to take in the surrounding and a couple of the gorges. :thumb2

Much apprecaiate all your help...... your previous post have been a great source of info also:clap
