First 50+ miles on a "new" bike in pishin' rain was not the best introduction. Very cautious. Then the rain stopped and the wet roads became dry roads and then I could take the wet suit off and then I could open it up a bit and enjoy the last hour or so. Mixed A roads. Rough. Smooth. Dual carriageway. All sorts. When I got home I found it memorises TOP SPEED  and average speed. What a tool! Ohlins suspension a real eye opener. Must get some on GS :) Roll on next track day.

ps - I ain't big but the bike looks small - and it is very dirty now

pps - 1 careful mature owner, full service, never dropped, bog standard (needs cans) :thumb2

I've got a mate just outside Perth who's got one. I found that it was pretty uninvolving anywhere under 100 mph, even on single track Perthshire back roads - a bit like playing a video game. Great trackday fun though, I suspect.....:D

Congratulations on joining the club, if you're like me you won't be disappointed!

I've had mine for about six months ........ I cannot express enough how much I love owning / riding it. It's been a complete surprise!

Tuono is way better for the sub Ton B road playing.;)
RSV is a lovely bike tho. :)

If you don't already know go here:
http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/

RSV/Tuono has some serious show stopping potential faults but all of them have easy enough workarounds if you either catch them early enough or carry out some minor preventative modifications. All are listed on the AF1 forums.

Baby's on the road again (Manfred Man)

So, last September, only 6 fekkin days into the "Aprilia Ownership Experience" the bastid RSV let me down on the road by Loch Awe half through a run with my lad.

Dead electrics. So I was parked up for a couple of hours, the RAC man paid a visit then buggered off after suggesting the charging system was goosed (it was).

And a man in a van took me home.

I'd ridden a whole 320 miles since collecting it from Aberdeen and setting off for a run via Oban.

It sulked in the garage all winter till I ordered up a new stator and Big Boy spannered it all back together again this week and took it for a shake down today.

I'm out of town right now so look forward to a spin and and a Knockhill session later.

The Mille got an unexpected shakedown round Knockhill last Friday as big boy's S1000 would not start. Seems a common problem

Then I took it it for a Sunday run and paused by Loch Earn

And now it's gone. A short lived love affair. Via fleabay to a German dealer who had it collected by his UK chum. All very painless.

An unexpected change in working arrangements meant I couldn't justify it lying idle most of the time. Even more so than my old GS.

But I do keep browsing the small ads. A nice R1200S could tempt me one day I think. Those chain things are just a PITA.
