Dreaded FPC strikes again

Got an SOS from a female 1200 GS rider this lunchtime " bike wont start ".
She is from Dublin staying in Dulwich London and i am in Berkshire, so thinking cap on.
Tried all the things i could think of to try over the phone, no use then left her to try and sort out locally, still nothing.
So i had a FPC spare for my bike and rang my local dealers to try to locate a Ring Antenna, luckily Bahnstomers Maidenhead had one, so off i go collect part on way and then the SE London traffic .
Within 10 mins of arriving at Dulwich the bike was running !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still pays to carry's a FPC and Ring Antenna with you

Just bought a 1200 GSA after owning a 1150. So instead of carrying a HES I now need a FPC. Wonderful BMW. At least the faults are consistent.

Some cotton string inside a neoprene tube would wick water out of the tank access cover. It might allow the FPC to last a bit longer.

To be fair it was an 05 Irish reg bike,so not bad service really.
Just a show stopper if you haven't got one or have a get you home lead.
I always carry one, unless i have given it away

On my 06 I changed the FPC at my convenience at home one sunny afternoon. Tackled the Ring Antenna another day. At home. But after a couple of dodgy red lamp experiences.

When looking at a 1200GS, I popped the cover off to look at the state of the FPC. It was corroded a lot worse than the one in the pic above. I pointed this out to the seller (a small time dealer). He said he would clean it up for me.
