Thinking of replacing my pheasant damaged Nextbase ride camera with a Drift Ghost XL.

Does anyone know what is the maximum size SD card it can take and how many hours they save?

Thanks

Downloaded the quick start guide form the Drift website its as below
Memory Capacity: Micro SD, SDHC, SDXC memory cards up to 128GB

Why don't you try looking at the website. The drift is a helmet cam, you don't have it plugged in whilst it is on your helmet. It would have to be a pretty long lead to reach from the helmet to a usb feed. You charge it, then switch it on, once its on the helmet.

Does it automatically switch on with ignition if you use the USB lead...or do you use the battery?
I use the battery. I haven’t needed to use a power cable yet. In dashcam mode it will start recording when it detects the power supply is on.

If using a power cable, are people mounting the cameras on the bike? Or are they running a power cable from the bike to the helmet?

I think that there is a continuous recording mode setup for when you are using a usb power supply, this records over the previously recorded material once the disc is full.

Suggest you download the manual from the Drift website to check.

Its going on the bike...not my helmet.

I had one mounted to my bike. I had the extra waterproof case that I made a cut out in to run the power cable that I powered from the GS’s usb. It recorded as a dash cam on a loop & occasionally the card needed reformatting.
Thing is they don’t seem to like being permanently powered as I got through 2 cameras that just stopped working. Contacted Drift (who are pretty good) but nothing could revive either camera when they stopped working.
I’ve now got an Innovv camera.

I've owned a Drift Ghost for 4 or so years (not xl). Had the same issues, the thing kept failing and I had to reformat, change cards, many calls to Drift support. It's working at the moment. Well out of warranty. On another bike I have the Innov K3 this has worked faultlessly for nearly 3 years. I only use the Drift helmet mounted if riding my second bike which doesn't have an Innov or any bike with no cameras.

I’d personally steer away from Drift cameras, they aren’t the most reliable of action cameras. They often freeze, corrupt files or simply just don’t record in the first place. 👍
