Anyone know how the feck I tighten me belt then ?
According to my service book I should have appx 1/4 deflection.
Well I've got more than that.
So much for the 5k service by HD ?

It's a black art, I'd leave it alone...over tighten and they snap.....if stressed take it back... They can be run a bit loose...

Drive belts....... did someone mention drive belts..

It doesn't need tinkering with, polishing or anything bolting to it so just leave the fecking thing alone and just ride it. :thumb2

Do a search. There is a wealth of information on drive belts on here. None of it useful or correct!

Thanks twizzle. I'll leave we'll alone. I checked it on the side stand in the garage, but the deflection is a lot more than 1/4 of an inch.

Think I'm just looking for things to mess about with and take apart. :blast
I took the front mudguard off yesterday feck knows why....:nenau
Seats off and side panels. I need to fit optimate and get a single seat to show off all that hidden lovely paintwork on the rear fender. :D

I thought most Harleys have an optimate plug on from factory? Mine has, its a 2006 road king..

Mine have over 1/4" at certain points in the rotation, and when cold. I raise the bike up and turn the wheel until it reaches the tightest point. Then lower it down and adjust deflection to be around 1/4". At this point I can twist the belt about 45 degrees with moderate effort. When riding the bike the slack decreases and the belt gets fairly tight due to the pulleys expanding from heat.

What Twizzle said, do not touch the belt, you will only regret it.....

Welcome to the Harley Owners club....

...but do fret and worry about it, especially –
A. At high speed.
B. When you are a long way from home.

...it's in the rules! :thumb2
