My 02 GSA has a slight noise coming from the drive train when it's leant over during cornering. It's the sort of growly noise / vibration you would associate with a worn wheel bearing in a car. Its not particularly invasive but would like to remedy it if it's a problem. Anyone got any ideas :nenau
The bikes done 14K. How long do drive shaft U/J's last? Would they be worth replacing if i have to go into the final drive :nenau

Could it be your crown wheel bearing? If you put the bike on the centre-stand and slowly rotate the rear wheel you might feel the rumbling of a disintegrating bearing. Also waggle it top to bottom (I think) and there may be play evident.

I'm about to have mine replaced for the second time....

Pluck

Couldnt' feel any play a couple of days ago but put 500 mile on since then  will have to give it another shake out.
How many miles have you got out of yours?

Tyres?

Hello,

Mine ( 1150 GSA ) makes a noise but I have put it down to the type of tyres used. Mine is worse with with TKC 80's but is quiet with my alloy road wheels and tyres.

I off road mine a fair bit so I have done rear brg, drive shaft and all brngs.

If no play, thats what I would suggest other than brgs, drive line etc..

Given it another shake and it's tight as a drum.
Would be nice if it's just the tires, will have to ride some more and see if it gets worse. Hopefully not :) The transmission gets progressively clunkier when it gets hot but I'm assuming it's a case of "they all do that sir" :nenau

Yup, especially in this weather.
What tyres are you using? TKC's make a load of racked. Have you checked the pressures? :nenau

likely tyre noise IMO.

worse with panniers on? they tend to reflect the noise.

My 12gs does that too. No rear wheel play, no growly bearing noises when on the centre stand, only noticed it with the new tyres (Tourances).

I'm running on tourances and think they're making the noise. Tyres pressures are correct. It's funny how i never really noticed it before but the more miles i put on the bike the more noises i become aware of. Bit like landrover ownership really

I have noticed the same. Changed from trailwings to touraces in April. Had never noticed the noise before. worse when going round slow bends.
