DriveModeDashboard with Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3

The DMD-T865 and DMD-T665 are both available to buy and have generally gotten good reviews it seems. Although they are constantly refining it looking at the Discord group they’re being very responsive to issues and replacing units that fail or encounter issues.

They are also engineering some beautifully CNC’d mounts and accessories for their own devices.

Seems like there is some bad blood between them and the Carpe Iter guys as they’ve asked Carpe Iter not to ship their tablets with DMD installed as they aren’t officially “certified”.

I saw that the latest update to Carpe Iter specifically removes DMD.

There’s a massive thread on DMD and DMD on Advrider, since both have been around a few years. I imagine the tiff is because Thork released their own device.

Which ram mount did you go for? Theres a bewildering array of mounts for the active tab 3.
The plan is to fix this to my KTM EXC for green lane mapping.
I went for this one, I did consider a lockable one but they see a bit bulky, well even more bulky.

Ok that looks good. What else do I need to be able to secure it do you think?
I’m just waiting for the AdventureSpec mini fairing to come back in stock and I’ll fix it to that.

To be honest that depends, you’ll need a clamp/mount but it depends what options you’ve got. I mounted mine to an SW Motech mount which has a 12mm bar clamp included

are you using the ram balls to mount? Are you doing anything else to manage the vibration when mounting?

No just direct mounting to the OEM bar that runs above my TFT. I figure if it's suitable to have the BMW Nav mounted there and other satnavs then this will be fine. The cradle has some flex in it so I'm hoping it neither bounces around too much, or causes issues with vibration.

I run Ram mount - Ram arm - Ultimate addons Ram ball for my setup

As its centred on the end of the Brodit mount, it needs to be FT ;)

Road use - fine,
Off road, i'd be tempted to go for a mount setup with less parts

Ive just ordered a block mount for a 12mm bar - i want to see if i can get the tab mount to allow the Nav6 & Tab to sit in the same space

The brodit mount is a end entry, and with the lockable part, means the unit isnt going anywhere !!

Ok that makes sense. I’m mounting to my KTM EXC so I’m more concerned with vibration, but I will look at fitting to my GS as well when I’ve got it all sorted.

JUst been and checked mine again :)

With the ram arm, mounted on the Give screen brackets, there is some side to side vibration ( i have a TC)

But once moving , no vibration ..

I may fit the GSA nav bar, as i did on my 06 Hexhead

For some strange reason, they didn't list it as a compatible part for the hexhead GS but only for the GSA ( it fits both )

If you want to try it ( assuming your on a TC GS the part number is

Still haven't gotten out for a proper ride on mine yet but there's very little movement in the mount. Although I suspect there is likely more chance of vibration and flex due to the RAM mount itself being slightly proud of the bar. Hopefully it doesn't "shake" too much. I'm not too worried about it damaging the tablet, but more if it gets a high pitched vibe going and I can't read the damn screen lol

So the GSA nav bar and fittings are sitting on my desk, :)

Weather permitting i will get the Screen off, and the bar fitted tommorow,

then assuming the lockable Nav6 mount will fit, that will be transferred over, then its just a matter of waiting for the milled nav mount block

Once thats here, i'll fit and and asses how the Tab2 fits in relation to the clocks etc

So a mixed bag today - one step forward and two steps back.

Stripped the front end, and fitted the GSA Nav hoop ;thumb

but didn't realise how narrow the GSA hoop is :(

As luck would have it, about 10 mins later the Nav block dropped through the doorstep

Thats a conundrum in it's self lol bought Via ALI express, shipped from the UK, and made in America

Anyway worked out how to get the block fitted, with the hoop, but the lockable Nav mount doesn't fit :(

Worked out a way to fit the Tab 2 - looks good, so should eliminate any vibration, and make it a tad less nickable

So i need to find a way to fit the BMW lockable mount ..

I think if i get another Block, and fit it next to the first one, i can fix the lockable mount to that,

and then put spacers on the other block so the Tab will sit forward of the other mount ( if that makes sense )

more hardware needed lol

Or do i just take the hoop off and go back to what i had ?
