Is the drivetrain on a 1150 suppose to feel like a poorly adjusted chain drive when you shut the throttle? If not what's the cure?

When you find out let me know will ya , as mine does that as well.

You`ll certainly get that kind of feeling if you`re harshly on-and-off with the throttle, and in the lower gears especially.

The cure is to adjust your riding style, and be smoother and more consistant with the throttle....perhaps using a higher gear than normal.

There shouldn`t be a greatly noticeable feeling in the upper gears at high speed.

Sounds like what I've got. I notice it worse if I let the flick the clutch on and off (not when I'm riding. Just did it to see if it was a clutch problem) but there's no clutch slip. Tends to happen most when filtering through traffic at low speed. There is no play in the Bevel bearing as this has just been replaced. Sounds like one of them weired BM traits that you've just gotta get used to.

Cheers wet slippery one. The one who knows too much leave no space to think about having fun, let this be a warning.

Ps Where were ya, went to the tap last night and was the only GS, ya wouldn't be avoiding the place would ya? Wasn't it you that knocked someone out? :thumb

I can`t abide the place,mate....what with all the Weekend Warriors and phoneys who infest the place.

:D :D .... I`ve been sorely tempted to do several times on the odd occasions that I have been there ( another reason for me avoiding the place now )....but I`m not guilty,Guv.

It was Henry................now you know why he`s got a busted finger or two............ :P

I have noticed that it has gone downhill. Used to get some real top blokes there but I don't think I'll frequent it very often, it's a long way to go for sweet FA.

Thanks for the help :beerjug:

My 1150GS had what I thought, compared to 1100RT, excessive backlash and with a months worth of warranty left I took it down to CWs for Darren to have a look/feel.

He pronounced it out of tolerance and when more closely examined had been fecked with slop since the day it left the factory.
Now the thing is the last owner had ridden it for 15,000 miles and unless you had the opportunity to do a comparison you'd think there was nothing wrong with it, the normal 'they all do that Sir' syndrome.

What did they replace to correct the problem?

The gearbox.

I know it sounds a sarcastic reply but they just changed it for a new one. (plus a new clutch and slave cylinder. Result :thumb)

mind you, any shafty feels like it has huge amounts of slop if you are used to a minimally adjusted sports bike with a chain.

Just like comparing the same bikes to a car really - especially in an automatic, there is a huge amount of drive slop taken up when you change from forward to reverse.
