R 1150 GS moving around a lot when driving hard.

Suspension will always be an interesting topic, but i learned a lot from this topic, also for the future bikes i will own. Maybe in some point i will upgrade the stock suspension, who knows. Also, of course people who splashed on fancy Ohlin's aren't going to down talk their upgrade, maybe I'll drive a GS with Ohlin's one day haha One the road i drove yesterday there's a section where its quite bumpy, but with these settings i could just roll over them while cornering, But i loved it, i might take the bike out this evening again:LOL:

Another point is smoothness of the driver, maybe in my last drive i wasn't smooth at all, trying to push the bike to move so much, maybe in this drive i was much smoother with my inputs transferring to a better ride.

To give you guys an idea of the roads I'm driving on, this is one of my favorite sections, and there's no people as well, this place is like motorcycle paradise

GS heaven right there...👍😂

IMG_2425.jpegThey’re funny little bearings in the fork tops. I’d never seen any like it before.IMG_2423.jpegIMG_2424.jpegIMG_2422.jpegIMG_2421.jpeg

I think they're just bushes that have delaminated properly... Lots of crossover on BMW bikes with car tech and those little shites are clunky on mine but manageable at the mo as they are intact... £60 each...🙄 I work in automotive and would love to find an equivalent...😂👍 Yeah right...

Oh god really, that expensive... as the bike was driving well and now knowing the price i might leave it as it. the important bearings seems to be fine and that's important. Maybe i'll have a look at the main top yoke bearing as that one is pretty important

Aah yes, fair point. Bushes. :thumb2
We weren’t sure what was causing it on my bike so I just got Mikeyboy to change everything possible. The two bushes, head bearing thingy and the ball joint. Oh and the shock top bush.
It certainly cured it. :thumb2:D

The laugh is this thread has put the wood on my GS...😂 With the new shocks the ride height increased slightly so making the front wheel touch the ground slightly on the centre stand... Last week I shortened the adjustable shock a tad to get the normal GS stance and today while giving a quick wash, I worked the bars as you do and hey presto, a slight notch feel to the bearing...👍😂
I'll get the yolk off for a check... I doesn't centre like a normally forked bike so it's not too much of an immediate bother but bugger it all the same...😂👍

I went to have a look at small bushings at the top of the forks, i can indeed move them up and down a bit, its indeed where the play comes from. How silly...

If i can find m somewhere i'll replace m, its a bit annoying haha

Edit: good lord.... 80 euros for one piece...

Look really good, but they only have front shocks...
Buy a front shock here and then get Lukas to rebuild your rear shock with a spring to suit

He will also supply you with a YSS shock If you prefer but after a weekend in Scotland with the shock I bought It was like night and day compared to how the bike was!

Fantastic and I am not a hoon but do like to carry a bit of corner speed and this new shock kept the front end planted really nicely
