On my Africa Twin it has Amber DRL side lights (actually they are the indicators but permanently on a static Amber Light)

So I found these on Amazon and thought I'd give them a try.

What do you think ??

Apologies for the dead flies.....

When my DRL lights are on during the daytime you may not see the yellow lights too much.

But when I turn these DRL lights off at night time, the yellow lights really stand out (as the yellow lights are permanently on). Obviously, if I flick main beam on, then they will be washed out with full white light.

Thought they looked ok, and seemed to get some interest when out last weekend. :D

They're on Amazon.co.uk for £21.99 inc delivery for either a pair of flood lights, or spot lights.

Not that you should, but they also do them with BLUE lights..... suppose it could be a BMW theme :D :D

Can the yellow sections be connected to the indicators to go on and off when the indicators are active?

Hmmm...... don't know.

The yellow LED lights are on a seperate positive cable. whether you could hook this up to an indicator wire, don't know. But why would you want to anyways?

Would there be (in due course) MOT issues..?

Assuming the bikes last that long, obviously:rolleyes:

Well, they are certainly in keeping with the rest of the bike :)

The reason would be to provide a repeater for the OEM indicators to make the fact that you are signalling more obvious, as otherwise the bright amber lights may detract from visibility of the indicators.

I believe that bikes which use the indicators as DRLs are wired up like this.

They're not anywhere near as bright as an indicator.

You can't mistake the two :D

Also, just to add....

If my left indicator was on... the left white LED lights would be off... but the yellow strips would be on.

On the other side, the white LED lights remain on washing out the yellow strips would be on but washed out in the white light.

So it would be very obvious which way I was indicating...

I suppose it helps that you have them behind the indicators, but it looks like at least 8 yellow LEDs in each unit compared to I think 2 LEDs in the original indicators. However, probably the white lights when they are on will have a bigger masking effect for anyone seeing the indicators, which I guess is why HexeZcan provide the facility to switch off aux lights when the indicators are on.

Interesting that you turn off the DRLs at night. I have my aux lights angled down and find them useful for lighting up the near edges of the road at night, but I wonder if that is legal? If not, then what about the cornering lights a lot of bikes now have - I thought the whole point of those is to light up the road edge around bends at night.

At night if I'm in urban traffic I might turn them off. Out in the sticks, they're all on... again providing there isn't much traffic.

During the day, they're always on
