DRL kit for GS & GSA hexheads

Brighter would dazzle everyone and at night too much foreground light messes with your distance vision.
I have some great long range LED spots but have struggled to reliably dim them. Without going down to perhaps 25% they are dangerously dazzling.

My mate has a Tracer and I must admit the led lights on that are extremely bright in my mirrors.

I should probably just stick with my upgraded H7 builds which, after all, are pretty good.

I'm not sure of the point of a daytime running light on a bike whose low beam is permanently on, on the pics in the link its barely visible against the low beam,
What I'm talking about is the one by the headlight, my spots have hids in them which do give more visibility in the day time and are obviously situated well away from the low beam so make you look like on of the space ships in close encounters of the third kind.

Cheers for the comments. All valid points.
I would like a bit more light available and on reflection, I need better night time light for my own vision rather than other people's ability to see me. If they can't see me with my low beam on then they probably never will.

I do hanker for the proper GS spot light LEDs but at £325 quid they are a lot of money. I have also been led to believe that you need to use a BMW computer to 'tell the bike' they have been fitted so that they work. Is this true?

The gsa spotlights on my bike are fused independently of the canbus system, so are uneffected, I don't know if the wiring is there on the loom to add some on later on the standard gs but I'm sure someone else does.

Cheers Gazza. I looked at the fitting instructions (get me!) they are meant to be wired to the proper sockets under the tank which again is a bit of a faff really.

The kit comes with all the bits required. I shall just have to wait and see if I get socks or a few quid for Christmas :rob

As soon as the Xmas drain on funds is finished, I'm gonna order 2 of the H7 and 2 of the H11 and see how it looks. I rode an 80km mountain route on Friday evening and it really drilled it home to me that the light output from the standard Halogen lamps is not sufficient.

The standard GSA auxiliary headlights (as BMW call them) do make the bike a lot more visible in traffic. That three lights triangle is so much more obvious than a single headlamp. But you need that 15" separation between each light. Too close and its just one big light. Too far apart, doesn't seem to have the same effect.

They are less good at night as the foreground gets over lit making the already weak main beam look even more weedy. The Les Wassal HIDs on both make a big difference for lighting the road. The latest heat sink cooled LED bulbs might be getting close.

As I said, I think I'll give them a try.......sure what's the worst that could happen??

The firm selling them has a good reputation. I bought my accelerator module off them and the service was great. I look forward to your comments.

I knew the name looked familiar, I only got one of the accelerator modules off them a few months ago as well.

I won't be going with the DRL, I'm more interested in the H7 and H11 LED lamps.

Yup I got that and I'm still interested on your views. The good people of this Parish easily dissuaded me on the DRL.

Riding home this evening with my ORAMs H7s was not too bad and they are nice and white but I would be interested in the LED bulbs.

I'm impressed.
If you decide to order all 3 (DRL & both bulbs) then mention me on here and you should get a 15% discount (worth about £43)
