I dropped my bike on the right at standstill and now won't idle. It hunts if that's the right word. Tickover goes up and down. When starting from cold it ticks over but when I apply the throttle it dies but if I put it in gear it will rev. Any ideas as I'm in Sardinia and don't want to get stranded here if I can help it.

Can you show pictures of damage? It might show something that will help determine the problem. Also what bike. It may also be possible that you dislodged something while picking it up. JJH

Oh dear… 😳

Sorry to see that you is in trouble, perhaps something to do with cable to the spark plug getting damaged?

Could you have damaged the lambar sensor on the exhaust??

Ok, under the LH side of the fuel tank just in front of the air box is a black plastic fag packet sized box. This is the cable splitter that takes the single throttle cable from the handlebars and splits it into two sub-cables that feed left/right throttle bodies. The plastic cam wheel inside can pop off the cable.

It’s one more thing to check, but may need the fuel tank removing (it’s a few years since I’ve owned a Hexhead now).

Thanks for that. I'll check it the morning as I'm on the bollocks to it juice now.

that's the traction control light - you toggle through the modes on the button

that's on in stutter mode -AKA let my grandmother ride slowly
the same but with an S is for grown ups
and nothing is off - as in pretty much the same as S (as they don't have enough power to do much that you shouldn't have spotted anyway beforehand)
