re reading your first post - not sure it applies as you points don't reflect well enough if you are having issues riding or just blipping the throttle when stationary
the TC can go mental (due to an ABS sensor failure) in this case you must toggle the ASR (aka Traction Control) to off - so the bike becomes rideable - in this state the bike will ride 100% normally (but without the support of traction control)
OK, latest is ASC comes on with ignition then goes off when moving. I've turned it on and off while riding and nothing changes.when I start the bike it won't rev and just dies if I do. It will rev once it's in gear though but it is hesitant but doesn't sound right. There is an engine management warning and a yellow triangle that stays on. Also I get a smell of burning oil now and again which wasn't there before. Will disconnecting the battery reset anything?
Disconnecting the battery for a few minutes will reset the adaptations in the ecu.
It could be many things I would check as many connectors as possible especially such as the throttle position sensor.
Sounds like you've got oil in the airbox, or it's seeped through the prison rings when on its side. You may need to remove plugs and clean, plus take out the air filter and remove the excess oil. Did it smoke a lot when first started? The management light is probably down to the misfire. Just an idea, if it is this it's a simple enough fix.
Check your TPS sensor I have done similar (a few years ago), as the bike went over i knocked the sensor with my boot and dislodged the wiring connector.
Problem solved! The tps connector looked like it was fully home but it wasn't. I was concentrating on the side it went down on too much. All lights out and running normally again thanks to you guys once more. Thanks for all your input on this, I can start enjoying the trip again now.
