Dropped my GSA in the dirt/grass this morning and now have a sore knee from connecting with the bike/ground on the way down. Was only slow speed (10-15Kph). I blame the Tourance tyres of course :)

I was wearing my BMW RallyePro 2 pants, but as I went down the leg of the pants slid up over my boots, so when I hit, my knee protector was no longer in front of my knee :(

Consequently - knee took 100% hit instead of via the armour.

Any way to stop this happening, or is it just bad luck with the way I fell? They're not supposed to be clipped onto your boots or anything are they?

Thanks
David

Had a similar experience. Have a look at the Cross Lite knee guards on www.planet-knox.com
You can wear them with/without the Rallye Pro armour. :)

Looks like an excellent piece of kit also looks as if it could be worn on the outside of your kex(or is that defeating the object) so it would potentially protect them as well.

Thanks for the link. Looks like hi-tech stuff.

At this stage I am just wondering if there is some way of keeping the legs of the trousers fixed where they should be when you get some 'upward' friction.

Not so brilliant to be wearing ATGATT if it goes north when you really need it.

Cheers

Some trousers come with elastic loops on the bottom to hook under your boots (my Teknic ones have them). You could sew some on I guess?

The only sure fire way of ensuring armour is where it's needed is to strap it to your leg. Having it inserted in clothing is never going to guarantee it'll be there when you hit the deck.

Sure it's an extra two minutes to fit, but you will be thankful it's exactly where it should be when you need it. In my opinion, trousers should do the warm / dry thing, and armour should do the protection thing.

Same goes for back protectors!

I wear rally pro 2 trousers tucked into GS boots, stops the armour riding up and everyone can see the boots.

Had a Similar Experience

Binned my trailie a few years back and landed full force on the kneecap. The knee burst like an orange, with the whole kneecap visible when I bent my leg.

20 stitches and a couple of weeks on crutches with that one. Since then I've worn EVS knee protectors fron Dirtbikexpress.

Tried a few others, but these are really comfy. I wouldn't trust the armour in textile suits anymore, too much chance for it to move around.
