Why would you do that? To re route cables
Why would you reroute cables?: To fit some bar risers
Surprisingly, many people fit bar risers and do not need to reroute the cables.
On by 07GSA, with an up and back bar riser, there is insifficient slack on the clutch and front brake cables. The cables needed re routing behind the fork tubes
This is an easy job, taking 20 mins max, requiring Flat bladed large screwdriver, 14MM socket. 19mm open spanner and two people !
1) Bike on centre stand, protect paintwork surfaces with a cloth and lever off the push fit plastic cap:
2)One person uses a 19mm open spanner to hold the fork tube nut to the lower of this picture:
3) You use a 14mm socket to remove the nut that you find after the top plastic cap is removed in (1):
Maybe one person could do the job, but I didnt have enough strength.
Now, this is a GS after all, no fluids, no real forks, just tubes and the tube will fall down a few cm only. No drama whotsoever and your front wheel will not fall off:
Thie leaves you enough space to relocate cables.
Reassembly is the reverse and do one side at a time.
I am not going to be bold enough to specify torques, but mine are very tight
