Guys,

Used to have a DRZ, E model, am now looking at getting back into trail riding and am thinking between the DR (still E model) or the XR400, can you tell me pros and cons?

Don't really need the extra power of the DRZ, am more concerned with getting the lightest bike possible.. for around 2K, but still with a snappy engine..:)

The biggest problem with the XR is getting the bugger started. It's definately a technique that needs mastering. I'd have thought that both bikes weigh roughly the same :nenau

had both got to be the drz when your fresh starting xr no bother ,tired different story went to toms farm got stuck was going to leave it there till the spring could not lift a pint on the evening let alone kick start a xr ,there was a a electric start kit for a xr but it was nearly a grand so sold it and bought a drz ,644 ccm are good as well

For around 1k you could get a DR350 then spend a few quid getting it up to trail spec (tyres, rim locks, gearing etc). Dunno about the snappy engine though!

yep, had a 350 as well but if i remember correctly it was even heavier than the DRZ! handled like a pig too..

have you considered a CRM 250 ?

Had a DRZ myself - CRM - lighter, quicker, dead easy to kick - no engine braking and getting on a bit - but still worth a think.
