2010 GSA - engine remap vs 'other options'?

I'm off to Hilltop tomorrow with my TC. Spoke to Geoff who said the software has a learning capability that enables it to adapt to future changes like exhaust or air filter. This seems an advantage over a PC. As I think their maps don't adapt and learn.

They do if fitted with the autotune module....

The cheapest new pcV I can find is around the 300 notes mark.

Other questions before I commit are:

Cost of getting a custom tune for my bike (and do I need one)?

Any recommendations as to tuners in the yorkshire/Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire areas? I'm in Doncaster but can travel.

PC all the way for me as it can be tuned to suit. I'll be at Mikeboy's on Sunday so have a go on mine and see what a difference a PC makes.

Oh, I've had a PC111 on mine for 3 years and been through some seriously extreme conditions and it's never missed a beat.

The Hilltop remapping has a degree of "self-adjustment" which is reported to be 10%. I reckon that would cater for most further modifications, or return to stock equipment (Air filter, Velocity Stacks, Exhaust, Decat, etc).

Yes- you need it set up for your own bike. Fitting a PC without tailoring the settings should make your bike a lot smoother on and off the throttle, but I wouldn't spend the money on a PC without doing it properly. You need a tuner who is a Dynajet agent, to map the unit on the dynamometer. Google for your nearest ones, and give them a call.

I would expect it to be around £150 (Max) for the mapping on the dyno.

I'm going to get a PCV with AT-300 (autotune module)
There's a German shop on eBay for the pair £450 or £212 for the PCV itself.
£360 for hilltop then fuel there and back from Edinburgh and it works out around equal plus I have something to sell if I ever decide.

That's a a well-reasoned choice.

Keep us updated of your progress/results?

Al :)

Does the auto tune negate the need for a specific tune being created for the bike? I'm confused about the auto tune to be honest.

(Oh and would appreciate a private message with the eBay link)

Once fitted the autotune continuously remaps your bike so it's optimum all the time. Hooks up to the PCV the autotune module has lambda (oxygen sensors) that replace the ones in your exhaust so it can constantly self adjust to the environment the bike is in. Load the stock map from the dynojet site for the PCV then the autotune will tweak it till it's perfect and keep it there always.

Out of interest has anyone who fitted a PC declared this to their insurers and was there a premium increase because of it?

Cheers. I assume the auto tune is generic - ie your link will work with twin cams (2010)?

Yes Mate buy the specific PCV for your Module/Year then buy the AT-300 Module for it which is an autotune module for exhausts with 2 x oxygen sensors like the GS

Thanks. I wonder how the auto tune knows was the 'correct' tune for the bike is? Is there some magic ratio or some equation that ensures perfect fuelling? I thought the human tuners skill made that happen.

I had a wunderlich power controller fitted before and I declared it to my insurance company on renewal....There wasn't any increase in my premium from memory came in at £200 mark.

Cant wait to get this now get my bike back Saturday been away getting Wilbers ESA front and back so with that and the PCV my bike will be complete :-)

It knows by constantly checking the fuel mixture by sniffing the exhaust gasses via the Lambda sensors...Then makes adjustments till its perfect
