I have Vista running on my pc with all the usual added software.

I have recently installed Windows 7 on another drive to use as a dual boot option.

My main question is, do I need to install a 2nd anti virus package on the dual boot drive or will the av on my Vista installation cover me ?

You will need a second anti-virus package for Windows 7 and for Vista. Plenty of free ones about AVG for example.

Cheers :thumb2

I have just emailed AVG to see if I can use my licence for Vista & Win 7 out of curiosity.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your e-mail.

You can cover both operating systems using your 1 user licence as they are part of only one pysical machine.

You could either have AVG installed on both partitions so that you have access to the user interface on both operating systems or you could just have AVG installed on one of your operating systems and set it to scan both partitions.

Kind regards
