I'm heading back to Belfast next week, via the Dublin ferry, and I'm taking my GS. Apart from having to get a photo when passing through Nobber, are there any roads worth following, or roads that I should avoid?

If you're going to Nobber you'll be well away from the M1 anyway. But if you're not going that far west the R132 & old N1 are a nice enough way of getting from Dublin to Dundalk.
I tend to keep well away from single digit roads - my last run up through Navan, Kingscourt and Carrickmacross was great fun and I came close to scraping the panniers on a couple of occasions. But I like the sound of the R132 and the N1 - it would give me a bit of a chance of hooking round through the Mournes on the way.
What's the N2 like these days? The last time I was along there I was on my way back from Slane in 86 and Freddie Mercury was still alive.
The N2 is a housing estate until well beyond Ashbourne.
There used to be a nice run up through Naul towards Drogheda.
There are very minor roads that would take you around Drogheda and bring you to cross the Boyne near the site of the famous battle and onto the road to Slane, and this is good biking road.
