Hello all,
Does anyone have experience of the service department at Clarks of Dundee.
Brian the service manager seems totally on the ball but don't know about the mechanics.
Bike is due a 6k and don't know whether to go there or Dalkieth.
Any advice?
Cheers
Kev

Paul Bate the head tech at John Clark BMW in Dundee knows his stuff, as indeed does Brian Malcolm, the Service Manager.

I wouldn't, for a moment suggest that's any less true for Stevie Smith and Tony Philipson at Motorrad Central.

You pays yer money and takes yer choice....:thumby:

I wouldnt go to Dundee......

A year ago I was in there and they told me they had no firm evidence that BMW were bringing out a water cooled engine....

They also had no idea why oil was dripping out of my final drive unit,of my old 1150, I called in there on the way home from Spain ......

Thats why.....

They seemed to find my gearbox ok, replace the fluid, replace the brake fluid and change the oil and check the valve clearances ok at my 6k. All while I sat there chatting with other bikers and having coffee and surfing on some wifi.

im just waiting to book my bike for 6k, feck treking to dalkeith.:D

Used Clarks for my 1150 and 1200 GS, never had anything but good service from them and they even put through a battery on warranty on the 1200 GS when it was 4 years old as goodwill.

Never used Dalkeith so can't comment on them

It will be interesting to see who Parks get for the servicing, hopefully they will be up to scratch

I always get servicing done at Dalkeith but had to go to Dundee for the brake pipe recall and found they were very friendly and efficient. I would have no worries about getting a service done there. They are about 30 miles closer to me than Dalkeith but the Dalkeith guys have been very good with my bike up to now and I would be reluctant to change for the sake of 30 miles a couple of times a year.

My first experience with Dundee was when I was looking for my first GS and it was the typical response of a bike corner in a car showroom. I think the guy I spoke to was probably the duty care salesman. That is how I ended up at Dalkeith. A different response on that first visit could well have had me getting my bike looked after there.

If you have no preference and Dundee is the most convenient I would give them a try.

Fine dealings with them past few years.:thumb
Did a 24000 mile service for me end of last year, all went smoothly.
