dunlop roadsmart

hi ,
has anyone had any experience with the dunlop roadsmart ?, i have got a gs1150 , and have managed to track down som roadsmarts for it and wondered whether any one has got any idea what they are like on a gs .
i will not use it off road and thought it would be better putting road tyres on the bike .
any feedback would be appreciated ,

Dunlop's equivalent of the Michelin Pilot Road II and has caused a bit of a stir.

General concencus is that they don't last quite as long as the PR2, but have a more peaked profile making the turn-in faster. (expect around 6K miles from a PR2 rear)

I have the Roadsmart fitted to my Fireblade as a sports/touring tyre - but not tried them in anger yet. They will undoubtedly offer more grip in road-use than Tourances etc.

If they are sig cheaper than the PR2 - then I would recommend them over the likes of BT-21.

(Don't think PR2 are avail for the front of a GS, but you can fit a normal Pilot Road to the front)

Roadsmarts are great.
I did 5000 miles two up and they were great on dry and wet roads too.

They will still last at least another 1500 miles and offer more grip compared to Battle Wings I used before.

I was considering switching to the Roadsmarts but then my normal supplier (which is cheapo internet site usually) has quoted me 223 GBP delivered for a pair. Another pair of Battlewings (which I really like) is 175GBP. They have Conti trails for 165 GBP. I'm only going to get 5K out of the Battlewings so I must be quite hard on the tyres. I have Roadsmarts on my K1100RS and like them but not sure an extra 50 quid is worth it. I fit them myself so I am looking for cheapest supplier.

Anyone know where any trye deals are at the moment - Busters have nothing on?

Size for a GS must be a bit cheaper?

I had a pair fitted to my 09 12GS yesterday. Rain on the way home so hav'nt given them any stick yet but the ride is noticeably smoother,but then they would be as they're not as lumpy as the EXP's.
One thing I did notice though,first thing I do when I get home after a ride is feel the temperature of the tyres (don't know why I bother,just habit) and the Roadsmarts were a lot warmer than the EXP's used to get even after the gentle ride home in the aforementioned rain.
They cost me £190 delivered from BCT in Saltaire and Allan Jeffries BMW charged £42 to fit them.
The EXP's had done 5k miles and although the front had about 1k left in it,the rear was knackered. Don't know how long Roadsmarts usually last but tbh I'd rather do 5k on great tyres than 10k on mediocre ones so cost/longevity is'nt an issue.
Soon as the Sun shines I'll be skiving off work and out for a play

This weeks MCN which came out yesterday has an offer for free fitting of Dunlop tyres which should save quite a few quid.

Just got mine fitted today. I didn't think that my riding experience would be sufficient to notice any difference, but they have transformed the bike! Turn in is much much sharper and the ride smoother. Still early days but I am very happy with them.

hi , i have now had the roadsmarts on for a couple of weeks now , thanks mark for the advice about the "MCN " coupon , the only hitch was that to get some money out of us the dealer charged me for valve and balancing !!!!, other than that the tyres have transformed the bike , turns in alot quicker and handles alot better .
so yes very happy with the feel of the bike !!!..

Fitted a pair of Roadsmarts last weekend, replacing the Battlewings. I quite likes the Wings but the Roadsmarts are in a league ahead for tarmac use. They ooze confidence and having had to scrub them in during a wet weekend they are very predictable in the rain.

Book says 1200GS is 110/80 R19 59H front, 150/70 R17 69H rear.

Can you get Roadsmarts in those sizes, the Dunlop website suggest not, as far as I can see?

Yes you can

Those are the sizes I have but they are V rated not H.
