i am due some new tyres on my K1200GT, does anyone have experience of " dunlop sportmax roadsmart " ?

or any other suggestions ?

thanks

I have the RoadSmarts on my ST1300 PanEuropean. They are (in my opinion) without doubt the best tyres that I have ever fitted to a motorcycle. Grip in the dry is excellent, rolling into corners effortless and totally predictable.
In the wet they are just as good. I have done about 3k miles on them and they are showing very little wear. I predict that they should be good for 8K+ miles.

+1 on the Roadsmarts, I have them on my Fazer1000. 4K so far, mainly high speed motorway, and very little wear, I expect 8K from the rear.

Plenty grip in the wet or dry, probably not recommended for a track day, but great for real roads.

or any other suggestions ?

I liked the ME 880's and went thru a few pair over the course of the 68k miles that I put on the K12LTC. I was worried about how well they handled with my first pair, 'cause I heard they were good for lot's of miles and therefore figured they had a harder rubber compound. They handled quite well in the many rain storms that I ended up riding in and very well when pushed thru some of the twisties. I think they might have more rubber than other tires 'cause I was getting 12-14k miles out of 'em, depending on how much I was in the throttle....:D

Just had Avons put on my Blackbird (Storm ST rear and Viper sport front). according to my tyre man (Tim at MTS Nottingham.....fantastic bloke, really knows everything you could wish for about bike tyres) many of his friends have used this combo and find it unbeatable for handling with decent mileage out of the rear without squaring off (unlike the Bridgestone that was on before)

continetal road attack

ended up with continental road attacks F + R. £205 fitted ( central london ).

heres the link to the tyre fitters - top service as always.... i've been there 8 or 9 times last 2.5 years and i am always very satisfied...

http://www.gostar-racing.com/sponsors/essential_rubber.htm

went to my regular tyre fitter and he talked me through the different brands - the shop was busy and he still spent at least 10 minutes taking me to see the tyres in the store and answering all my schoolboy tyre questions....... ( this is the first 4 cylinder bike iv'e had in 4 years of boxers - - i am riding it, erm, a "little" faster than previous GSs / RTs so really wanted the best possible tyres, it had BS 020s when i got it, )

- tyre fitter suggested the dunlop sportmax roadsmart would have been very good but they didn't have a front in stock...... he said definately the best of all tyres in wet....... he pointed out the front end is heavy on the GT and he personally didn't like bridgestones because they would not wear well / even on the front...... he said road attacks were a close second choice to dunlops, and £40 cheaper also......my mates had a few pairs road attacks on his X11 and they seem to do the trick for him........so am trying the road attacks - - i'll let you know how they are / ( and i'll certainly let the bloke in the shop know how they are if they're shit! )

waffling. sorry.

oh - turns out the previous owner of my bike filled front + rear tyre with that green gooo that "repairs" punctures as they occur - - both tyre pressure sensors were covered in green goo - - -now the tyre fitter cleaned it all off, my tyre pressure doodahs seem to be working properly ( they hadn't been working the last 5000 miles, main dealer couldn't diagnose the problem......but to be fair i didn't ask them to take the tyre off and check for a ton of green slime...... one of the sensors has also had a knock by prior to me getting the bike, the tyre fitter said this is easily done fitting tyres if you are not careful....)

heading to germany ( with some chaps from this site ) this thursday for 7 / 8 days including nurburgring so will have a good idea pretty soon if i like the tyres or not............. :thumb2
