Ok a quick run down and some pics of my trip .We covered 850 miles from Friday to Monday .Boat into Troon ,up the coast to Dunoon and ferry across, towards Oban , Headed for Fortwilliam,up the A82 and over Invergarry on up the A87 to Dornie sunshine turned to snow over the pass and then sunshine again ,then took the road round Lochcarron over the pass and down into Applecross ,headed the coast road from there A832 to Ullapool and on up to Durness .Next morning we took a 42 mile single track road out of Durness over to Tongue down to Lairg down to Bonar bridge and headed for Inverness ,left there rode down the single track road along the side of Loch ness into Fort Augustus.Next day headed out to Oban and down to Troon for the boat.I have to say nearly all the miles were covered on small roads and hundreds done on single track roads. If you have a bike this is the place to go,No traffic and amazing views ,the road down to Applecross is staggering and the same up into and out of Durness.

On balance really liking it.

I've done 7k commuting and 1k in Scotland, this was my first holiday on it.

I was away with 5 sports bikes (s1000rr, fireblade, zx6r, r6 and a striple) and at times I wish I'd taken my gixer.

However it kept up well considering and over most point to point meets I wasn't arriving that much after them, barely enough time for helmets off.

The suspensions a bit too wallowy for my liking, especially when there were surface undulations on corners when it got a wobble on. I'm thinking about the Hyperpro's to sort that out. Or I could accept it and just slow down a bit.

It was great for luggage, especially the top box which makes access to stuff so much easier than struggling to put stuff on a sports bike.

What really impressed me was the journey back yesterday. 344 miles from Uddingston to MK, only had a 15 minute break at Carlisle and fuel but no stop at Watford Gap then home. No aches, no pains, not even this morning.

The trip computer says 60mpg but calculated on actual fuel/miles gave 66mpg, at a steady indicated 70 - 80mph. Also got 221 mls to the tank with 16 left!

It's been a good mile muncher on the M25. I'll definitely be taking it on holiday again. Its a bit of a compromise on speed when your mates are on sports bikes and you don't get the benefit of the range when you stop with them, but not by much and I'm glad I did this trip on the 800 :D

great pictures of a great part of the world. I have been touring around that part 1 weekend each year for the last 5 years and still find new roads that please. boat booked for June
