Yes

Remove the alarm from under the rear seat cover and open it up. You can replace the battery. Im sure there is a picture guide on this forum somewhere as I did this on my previous bike.
The most difficult bit is removing the plastic cover under rear seat.

I think the internal batteries are something odd, IIRC they are two CR123 lithium cells.

Perhaps best to research and buy some before you start the job?

Batteries are indeed CR123A - you do need two of them

Some pictures below of when I changed mine :

If world leaders were not trying to boss each other about the world would be a better place.

cr123a is a fairly standard camera battery (older pre digital slr's etc ) and readily available

Thanks for advice
New CR123 battery’s fitted and tested all good DWA warning gone out till next time
Best advice I can give is take time dismantling plastic parts lots of spacers washers etc
Now to clean the bits of the bike before the rebuild
New Years day ride out will be here soon

This morning at 7am. Ice frost -1 degrees. Did I drag the bike out, spend 10 minutes getting togged up with troose, boots, coat, gloves, blah blah?

I went in the car. Even needing to buy petrol it was quicker than using the bike.

What’s dwa stand for and what. Does it do

I had the DWA warning with half a battery logo.
I understand how to replace (instructions from REPROM
But:......

There seems to be two types of CR 123, one states that they are rechargeable (ie the Maplin 650mAh) while others omit any detail re recharging, instead saying they last up to 9 years.

Question is, does the alarm make any effort to recharge the batteries as we ride along?

Pics of the batteries in the attached link show originals which state do not recharge
