Dyno re-mapping recommendation

I'd like to get my bike (2007 1200gs) onto a dyno and have it re-mapped, can anyone recommend anywhere in North Wilts/Gloucestershire/East Berkshire?

Happy to travel to Hilltop if the general consensus is that there's nowhere better, but a local business would be preferable, if available.

Question: Would installing a Power Commander smooth out the fueling without the need for a dyno session? I know both are recommended but I'd like to keep the cost down a little if I can, and was told that either option would work????

Hilltop would be my advice. Had my (08)R1200 GSA done last year. Still can't get over the improvement every time I ride it. Have done a little of 7K since the remap and consistently get + 5-6 mpg. I still believe its the best upgrade I have ever had done.

Geoff at Hilltop if you want your bike to run as well as its able to, I really wouldn't bother with a Power Commander

I'm also interested. I can't do a Thursday or a Friday otherwise planning to have mine done during April.

Need to get a serviced first and sort out an intermittent Missfire when it's hot. RHS goes off at low revs and throttle.

Oddshaped, I have a Power Commander 3 for an R1200GS sat in my garage drawers if you want to try it. I bought it from this site but never got around to fitting it and now Hilltop do optimising on a rolling road that's what I would prefer. £50 collected from my place at Fareham with free tea and biscuits or you pay the postage.

If you fit a power commander you should get a custom map done as well or you're wasting your money.
The costs and results are comparable with getting your ECU reflashed but there is an advantage that you can remove the power commander and sell it should you no longer keep the bike. There's no money back on a remap and it adds little if any value when selling/PXing the bike.

Maybe not, but it is a more integrated solution without additional unsightly wires and connections that can get wet.

Horses for courses. I've done both albeit the remap was on my multistroodle. If you get the PC V fitted professionally it's so small and such a neat job it looks original.

Power Commander TC with pipe is faster than my remapped Triple Black, which is identical performance to my father's non remapped Triple Black. My older GS, which now has full Remus system is just as quick as my remapped Triple Black - although the TB is smoother - that said the non remapped TB is also smoother

If I was looking for performance, from my personal experience, the Power commander is more effective than the remap - although this shows around 4-5 bhp increase whereas the remap charts shows around 25-30bhp increase - the Power commander bike is quicker though?? The best upgrade for an older bike would be to sell and buy a Twin Cam - or the new liquid cooled bike imho - or buy an older model at a great price and put on a full pipe and power commander.

If you want 15bhp more you really are going to have to buy the new bike, as despite the figures quoted - the remap is not going to provide it.

Oh, and if anyone was wondering as to the mpg - the non mapped Triple Black is always, without fail, a few mpg better than both the remapped TB and the single cam - over the same terrain and over months of comparison rides.
