Just had my 2005 gs dyno run and was quite pleased with the results.
Mods done : Power commander , K&N Filter . full Bos system.

Dyno Result put it at 98.9 bhp at the rear wheel (109 to 110 at the crank)
Not run to flat out , so im quite happy :):):):):)

This was done at a local dyno place in Cradley Heath West Midlands guys name Kev , very helpful and not expensive

Standard power

sounds interesting. did you know what increase that gave. i.e. what the power was before the mods ?

Not to sure what the standard power is as i put the exhaust system on as soon as i got the bike , but now after the dyno tune it pulls great as the power comes in low down and give a great power curve all the way up to the rev limiter .

Interestin. I have my 1200GSA '08 with remus headers. Then i was thinking of K& N Filterr and an accelerator module. Now i ahve had a quote for a Power commander set up on the Dyno and a filter but all at almost£600.00

any advice would be most welcome.

I just want the bike to run nicer and just lovely power right from the off. slow riding town riding and open road..... I am an older quite sedate rider but a bit of a perfectionist. Thanks

I bought my PC III from CMC Bikes Chesterfield - delivered £270-00.
Filter : £35-00 K&N
Dyno run (including map) £60-00
Bike runs great , sooth , more low down , basicaly just better.

Total : £365-00

I think unless you have a different PC it seems expensive at £600-00 !!

Thanks thats just what I wanted to hear. I will get the same thing done if I get a better price like that. but before doing anything all I have is the question is the '10 bike much better???? i'll have to search this site and have a test ride of course! thanks again

just had my 09 gsafitted with pc5 by paul hoddy at dynobike in malton.running k and n filter and full remus produced 105 bhp at rear wheel bike running brilliantly cost was £370 all in inc custom maping

One of my local bike dealers quoted me a generic £500 to supply and fit a power commander and custom map. There is a place in Bristol http://www.timblakemoreracing.co.uk/dynojet.html# who will do it for £399.

I really want a power commander now to smooth out the surging when I go full throttle quickly. £500 is too much I think, and £600 is way off the mark!

Was it just a test run or did they set the PC up?

try hill top motorcycles the guy can re map your ecu no power commander need standard clean fuelling up about £220 GLF (goeslike f,,,,ck £330 approx re maps inc ignition timming adjusted mates 08 gs full remus system achived 109 bhp at back wheel plus tork increase max tork lower down rev range .Also R1200s 124bhp at back wheel decatted and zard exhaust you find number on itnernet, its near
mallory park.

So the GS's can have the standard ECU re-mapped?
Are there any issues with BMW dealers with that - like they refuse to service or reset the ECU when they have it in?

From what I understand it doesn't affect service reminders or software upgrades according to Hilltop.
Know loads of folk who've had it done & they've all said its the best money they've spent.
So it proves if you've got some one who knows what they're doing you don't need all these power commanders etc.
Micky & a couple of other F800GS owners are getting theirs done shortly after one of Micky's sons had his R1150GS/AD done & was very impressed.
Any way what do you think a power commander is -its only a box of PCB's built to trick the std ECU ,surely its gotta better to sort out the std ecu if you know what you're doing.

Yeah but I wouldn't want to spend £300 on a map to have the BMW dealer overwrite it because they either just think they should, they think it has an error or they have been given an upgrade from BMW. I'm very cynical about main dealers. Even if they have good mechanics I'm not sure I'd trust the message to get round that they shouldn't mess with the ecu. You can imagine an apprentice having the job to update all the ecu's or the mechanic that knows not to touch it going off sick etc. I guess if you stick a big label under the seat or wherever the port is.

Power Commanders just add or subtract fuel to the map according to rpm and throttle. They work perfectly well but would still be messed up if the dealer changed the base map. You could end up correcting a correction!

After re mapping ecu locked and ecu can then receive bmw ecu up dates, dealer computers dont notice any different.best 300 quid I have spent on R1200s not to mention improved fuel consumption.

I have had no issues neither has my mate. Once up dated you cant physically tell its been done even when hooked up to dealer computer

The issue is if BMW have an updated map, it will overwrite. Many manufacturers do release improved maps not just the operating code. However, as mine is a 2004 they probably wont bother with map changes now. All the same I think when I have mine done I'll stick a big label near the data port.

Had my ZZR done here, replaced PC3 that was on the bike, it felt fine afterwards and improved slight snatchiness and was definately a shade smoother afterwards.

Once thing I would worry about more with the BMW is map get overwritten, or BMW noticing and getting squiffy about warranty, with Jap bikes they never update maps and I am sure would never notice it had been done either so no worries.

Certainly modern emission rules really do ruin potential performance of modern bikes and cause a lot of these glitches and flatspots so fixing it is something I would love to do, too scared right now, I suppose with a Power Commander you can always pull it off before taking to dealer.

Be interested to see how people find both methods, and if fuel consumption is affected :thumb2

So it costs £330 for a remap. Forgetting the possibilities of dealer wiping it, what about after sale? When you sell your bike you would have to keep all the mods on the bike otherwise it wouldn't run properly on std parts. Even if your bike did run well on std parts with a remap you couldn't sell your map - it would have to stay with your bike! However if you buy a power commander you could at least sell it on again when you sell the bike separately.

Any Techlusion Experience Out There

I acquired a 2nd hand Techclusion black box and popped it on my 06 GS. I think I've erred on the rich side and it's running like a pig in places with some awful flat spots when you grab a handful - like trying to overtake in the mid range. Not bad at the top end though. Running Remus headers, Akra can and K+N filter.

It just seems a bit hit and miss pressing buttons and watching coloured lights in th ecomfort of your own garage.

Would someone with a rolling road + P.C. knowledge be able to get the Techlusion right?
