I have a 2001 1150 and it has a K&N filter, Remus Carbon can and Y-Piece. She pops a bit on the over run, and I'm think of how I can best set the engine up to make it run smoother and get the best out of the exhaust and motor.

Anyone running a Power Commander? Or should I just get it booked in for a diagnostic session at my local BMW dealer?

Hi Chewie,

My 2000 1150 was the tester for the PC3 when Dynojet started bringing them into the UK, so mine's been fitted for some years now. I still get backfires, but if it's set up right, there is a significant improvement in drivability. They got a 10% increase in power and torque at 40% throttle opening on mine. Perfect for those quick overtake opportunities you want to go for... There was a slight increase in top end too, but only around 4bhp. The beauty of them is the ability to swap maps for different types of trips - 'economy' while touring or 'performance' while in the IOM (mine's been permanently in the second one :green gri)

Power Commander highly recommended, I've had mine for a couple of years and regardless of increased power & torque, the improvement in rideability is superb. I can't add anything to what Paul has linked to, but the maps that come with the PC are not applicable to your mods and you'll need some time on a dyno - well worth it. All the other remaps, chips etc. can't be as good.

R you could go for a cheaper way by fitting a epron chip which gives you more power and better mpg and midrang £ 49 -00 on ebay

13.2:1
It's all there in the links I posted above

Thanks. I went through and read them. I've run 13.2:1 (lambda=0.90) with my LC-1. The results are even better than my usual setting of 13.8, which I run as a compromise between power and economy. The 13.8 setting makes a very drivable engine, very smooth running.

Have you seen any negative effects from running 13.2 for a long time? (e.g. carbon accumulation)

Programming those chips is a lot more complicated than the sellers let on or even understand. On any bike with a functioning O2 sensor, the Motronic's Closed Loop algorithms determine final fueling. If you disconnect the O2, there can be other issues. I'm not a fan of chip replacement.

Can't say that I have, but my 1150 still only has 55k miles on it (must get out more...) so it's only done about 35k miles with the PC fitted. Any engine related issues are more likely to be laid at the door of 'thrashing the tits off it', rather than anything to do with the PC :)
