Load of Touratech stuff on e-bay at moment. Many items have bids in excess of new price (especially when you add p&p) All the bidders are shown as "private listing - bidders' identities protected"

I know people often get carried away at auctions and there are of course the genetically stupid, but it looks fishy to me. :nenau

Not interested in bidding for any of this stuff but the bids amazed me

eBay default is "private listing - bidders' identities protected" so that's normal. No fish.

TT is notorious for very long delivery times 'weeks leading into months even'. :blast

Maybe bidders are aware of this and willing to pay over the odds knowing they can get a secondhand item quicker than a new one. Probably no fish here either :nenau Sorry.

Identities are protected, although show the highest bidder if you're the seller.

I wish the screen spoiler I just sold went for more than new

I recently bought a set of the fork protector stickers, guys on ebay are selling them for the same price as touratech, but the postage was around £5 cheaper than touratechs!

All standard for these bikes and eBay. Last year when I was looking for aluminium panniers, idiots were paying more for second hand ones than I could buy them new from the dealer. Some people think it must be cheap if its on eBay and they never actually check the proper price.

I think you're right, just take 10 minutes to do a bit of research to find the best value item, some go straight to Ebay beveling it to be. :comfort

Not fishy just folk being stoopid. Saw some bottles of whisky sold at auction for way more than they cost in Asda.

Yep, it`s not always the best place

yes, I agree - I do a little on ebay myself and I try to keep the prices exactly the same on my site (www.cymarcbikeparts.co.uk) as I do on fleabay.

IMHO I am not that pleased with fleabay - it`s become a haven for people getting ripped off THINKING it`s the best value and the charges ebay and paypal (which belong to ebay) are very high indeed when compared.

i`ve also heard of a number of scams where low life use paypal to basically screw your account.

It`s very rare that I ever voice a detrimental opinion about anything or anyone (life is too short) but it is a wise man who isn`t taken in by the image ebay `like` to produce.

And also!!!! I do see quite a few people complaining about the lead times from TT - I have no idea if I am right but, and in their defence (and I am not on their payroll - if anything I am a small competitor of good stuff), if they do not carry stock (guys - stock is expensive) and have to have the stuff manufactured to order then it will always take time. It`s my guess that they purchase from abroad (it`s normally the cheapest way) and there will always be a delivery lead time. It will most likely be a commercial decision not to carry too much stock rather than a decision to mess us riders about!

ha - funny man

Hey, stop ranting on about eBay and get my pannier table knocked out. :-)

you`d soon be ranting if I took as long as TT :D

I should have it made and to you within a few working days :thumb2

By the way, and I am not saying this because I make them, but it`s a good piece of kit - I used one in france recently and it also makes a good food preperation surface what with it being stainless - a good suggestion is to take some of those anti bac wipes to wipe it down before and after use.

Also, it works best if you can place the panniers on a flat surface as I did struggle at times - you need to make sure the corners `clip` into the corners on the panniers to stop it from moving about otherwise I hope you will be pleased with it - I was.
