That’s great Nutty. For me, if a ride (non-electric) doesn’t have a decent hill I feel I’ve wimped out. Takes all sorts. Tho I still wish I had the balls and legs to hit 40mph! Respect.
True, unlikely, but I's be concerned about my licence being at risk if, fr example there was an accident, especially as, for me at least, the main purpose of an e-bike would be for returning from the pub.My German e-bike is designated a "speed" version and is limited to about 28mph (actually 45kph). It came with lots of bits of paper saying not legal for UK roads etc, and also a little licence plate mount (which soon came off!!). It has great LED front and rear lights powered off the main battery, and also a proper brake light connected to front and rear brake levers.
If stopped by plod I'll just claim I bought it second hand and wasn't aware it broke any limits. Very unlikely though as I keep to the rules when cycling.

I made a mistake. I meant 40.9mph.

So tell us what the gradient was on the 40mph bit, if it’s on the flat on an unrestricted e-bike you should give sky a ring and lead the team in the Tour de France next year![]()
