Hi All, anyone got any advice regarding in ear monitors ? are they worth the expence got a few longer trips coming up be nice to hear the sat nav phone and music better

YES! I put it off for ages... But I now have a pair of Sound Ears from Ultimate Ear. They're great, I can hear the audio books or music perfectly without all the rubbish wind. I was restricted to 60ish mph as anything more and I couldn't hear much through just the F4 and regular ear plugs.

Myself and a number of friends have used these earbuds with great success for the past few years. They are designed for the Ipod etc but have a 20db noise reduction which is as good as most earplugs. The sound quality is excellent for radio, GPS and music and the drivers are small enough to be easily fitted inside the ear with no discomfort. Etymotic make a range of different size earbuds that fit the driver to ensure that you get the fit you want. They are very comfortable and much much cheaper than bespoke plugs. For use with Autocom systems, a special headset is available to allow the earbuds to be used - it also works well.

Very nice and cost-effective bit of kit!

I also have sound ears from Ultimate Ear, Judge from here was the man who fixed them up for me. I did have cheaper in ear custom plugs, however if ever there is an example which proves "you get what you pay for" my new ear plugs are it.

Makes riding almost quiet, no problem hearing music audio books, sat nav, communications etc.

If you can afford them you won;t be disappointed is my view.

They have been absolutely brilliant and have outlasted a few friends' Ultimate Ears...but that could just be down to how they are treated.

They were fairly pricey...180 approx as I remember, but you get what you pay for. As you'll see from their website, they cater for the Aero industry in a big way, so i'm sure they know what they're doing...

PS I do not work fopr, or know anyone from Headset services...just a good product, that's all

I had a number of different in ear monitors, including moulded ones. Most broke or were uncomfortable - there is nothing beats the agony of an ear piece that has shifted around and is pressing on your skull as you ride the motorway.

I would heartily endorse Ultimatear moulded plugs - fantastic sound & v comfy

I tried loads of different types of plugs speaker etc as i couldn't justify spending 120 on ear speakers but having tried every thing and probably spent more on trying different one i got Micks number from a friend got him to make the moulded ne for me with speakers and a spare pair at a fraction of the price without . Best thing i ever did you dont even know there in even if you have been in the saddle all day and the quality again excellent

Bit the bullet and paid the money having tried all sorts including cheaper custom plugs and ordered ultimate ears last year. Discounted for Tossers as well. Best bit of kit I've bought. Music, sat nav, bike to bike miles better than any other solution. So one more vote for The Judge.
