I've tried 3 different earpieces now, from £4 to £20 and am having the same problem with them all. The sound keeps breaking up and it appears to be due to the loose connection into the Garmin power / sound cable.

I'm not using an adaptor now but even plugging straight in, there is enough movement to cut out the sound when moving. I'm going to try taping up the connection, but that's not ideal for unplugging the lead.

Any suggestions??

Yes I had exactly the same problem with my QPAC that I bought grom GPSW. It was sent back to the manufacturer in Portugal who decided there was an internal problem and reworked some dry soldering. When it came back to GPSW they themselves had a look and as you surmise it was simply the 3.5mm female jack that was at fault - and they fixed it. If indeed you did get it from GPSW give them a call and ask for Paul (Stock?) who was very helpful. FWIW my ACQ (audio only) is displaying the same symptoms so I guess it's the quality of the connectors that is in question. If you can tape the two connectors together against something solid you may have a tempory fix

Woops - just noticed that yours is a Garmin power/sound cable so not the same problem! Sorry

The Garmin sockets are mono

A stereo headset will 'just' work but either the volume will intermittently go up and down or it will be very low volume.
