Earplugs

If have always been a big fan of Ultimate Ear, not least as they are reasonably local to me, over the river in the badlands of Kent. I had some fresh impressions taken at the London motorcycle show in February, ordering a set of their dual channel Bluetooth in-ear monitors and a pair of conventional ‘passive’ ear plugs. All delivered in reasonable time to my front door.

The dual channel Bluetooth in-ear monitors work very well, allowing my to hear the voice instructions from my XT and phone (the latter used only for navigation) simultaneously. The ‘passive’ ear plugs are similarly good.

Having once dropped and lost an ear plug in France, I also carry a pair of Alpine ear plugs in my pocket, in case I ever do the same again. The pound of butter in the fridge, has kept me safe from having to use them.

I find Eggz motorbike ear plugs work the best for me. Not cheap, but you get two different sizes in the pack, with an option to specify small or xtra large if you order direct from them.

Wine bottle corks still come in handy.

Have had UE moulded for 6 years or so, they are very comfortable and I can hear the cardo. I did send them back to have the filters reduced, couldn't hear very much at all with the initial filters. Been pleased with them, but never had the ones with monitors in

So does that mean you have the 23db filter rather than the 29db now?

Not sure, but it is one down from the ones they were supplied with, couldn't hear knack all with the original ones. You can just send them back for a filter change, don't think I paid. If they are colour coded, my filters are green

I've got some Alpine Motosafe ones. Typical Christmas tree type, but what makes them better than the others is the insertion tool which helps get them in correctly and also means the stalks are easier to get hold of to remove them after.
I have these, quite good. Always worry about loss of insertion tool though :)

Appreciate you're looking for non-disposable . . but I use the green "Max lite". They are a soft foam. I can even wear them at night and not uncomfortable. I have used them with helmet speakers too. I don't throw them away after each use .. I just buy a big box of them. There's usually a pocket with one or two in.

Same here, I’ve got a big box in the garage and have pairs in almost every pocket of my bike gear - I’ve tried Ultimate ear and the ribbed auritech plugs but somehow always come back to the green Max Lite
