easiest way to change fuel pressure regulator

I swapped my fuel pressure regulator for the 3.5 bar version as used in the old K1200RS. I’m reliably informed that lots of race bikes in the boxercup used this mod. Changing it was a PITA.

Unless you’ve got some way of controlling the fuelling it will make the bike run rich. Options to control fuelling as follows:

  • TFI Box (can only add fuel so no good for this)
  • PCIII
  • Hill Top Motorcycles OEM ECU remap
I’ve tried all three and currently have the OEM ECU remapped. I wouldn’t bother changing the fuel regulator without other mods.

Good luck and let us know what you think:thumb

Okay,

Whip off all the external stuff as described above, and get it down to this:

The stripdown consisted of some obvious stuff but I'll list it anyway for those who are mechanically challenged:

Seat & RHS Panel;
Fuel Tank and Air Intake Pipe;
Hand guards leading to Throttle & Fast Idle cables at handle bar end;
Remove Throttle Bodies, their cables and then the wiring & piping for convenience (and the opportunity to give them a clean);
Remove the Motronic from the battery box;
Remove the battery box securing nuts and lift it away whilst feeding the throttle cables to allow it to be placed on the airbox.

That gives you access to this lot:

The Fuel Pressure Regulator is seen below:

There's also an opportunity to check a few other things and get rid of the sand and soil. :thumb
