Can you put me down as a possible please…. another one on a 701bit of a way for me to get there though . Bike in van job.

Is everyone on thumpers ? If so I'll pass. If there are 1 or 2 on ADV bikes I'll pop along. (trying a beta x-trainer in Wales later in the month).

I would say the majority will be on singles ranging from 300 - 700 but people have joined us on Tigers, Scramblers, Ducati’s in the past and kept up. There is always the option of missing out the lanes that maybe a little too technical….

How technical is this going to be? I am not an off road rider having done a couple of days in my life... the X Country should cope, but if it is dry I would like to come on the R80GS, not if it is going to be like Timolgra's Welsh lanes! In fact I wouldn't tackle those on anything but foot!

The route is rideable on a larger adv bikes. Last time we had a 1200 scrambler and eastmidlandsbiker on his triumph. I will be riding my airhead scrambler. In any event there are ride arounds. If you are in any doubt I would recommend that you have the route on your nav unit, so that you can see the way around the offending trail.

Thanks Colin.

As discussed on the phone I have had an enquiry from someone who wants to join the off road ride and considering bringing a pillion.

I will share the route file with him.

Happy to hear opinion on carrying pillion on this ride?

If its a similar route to last year I wouldnt want to take a pillion. The following might give a flavour (a couple of short extracts from an Innovv camera).
  • A bit slippy ->
  • This wasnt my best decision to cross this field with a low front mudguard ->
  • I was quite tired at this point.. my one slip ->
  • At least my ADV bike had a slight advantage as a recovery vehicle ->
Last year was great fun, but I should have avoided the ploughed field.

BTW, Im in.

EMB.

If it is muddy like last year I will be on the X Country! The 80GS is too clean to get caked in mud that bakes on.

Apols., I can't make this now, will aim to make the Oct date.
