Here are a few pictures of the Brecon Beacons run that Gerry Huxtable ran on Saturday (great day Gerry, thanks :thumb ). Apologies if I get names wrong, I'm pretty poor at remembering them ;)

There would have been more but despite there being a decent sized group (16 or so in all I believe) we managed to crack on at a decent pace using the second man drop off system. It's the first time I have been involved in this and wow does it work, it dealt with all the issues I have about riding in a group. Excellent.

Anyway, back to the ride out:

I organised to meet up with a few West Midlands Tossers (Snooty, TommyBoy, Matkat & Sue) near Worcester to ride over together to Clyro and the start of the run. Vern dropped in and entertained us with an exhibition of Egyptian dancing whilst we waited for the last one to turn up (Xray3)

Clyro

We arrived safe and sound with Vern leading and me playing tail end charlie. There were a few there already and everyone was very welcoming :beerjug:

Time for the off!

Soon it was time to be off. Gerry marshalled the troops and we all made it out of the layby without incident :D

The Slaughtered Lamb?

After a good hour we stopped at what has to be the least hospitable pub in the world

Don't go out on the moors

The setting was a little bleak and it was surprisingly cool considering how pleasant Friday had been, so after a quick fag break we were off :roll

Big Puddel

I wish I'd had more chance to take pictures of the scenery. I'll certainly be back on these roads :)

Gerry's route took us back and forth across the Beacons and I'm sure we passed this reservoir more than once :reynolds but there was at least one other beautifull resrvoir as well :nenau

Lightweights

Some of the group had committments, others may well have been lightweights :dabone (only joking fellas  ) these are the hardcore that stayed the pace

I calculated 252 miles from Clyro to the death. Mostly on single lane roads which I would never have bothered with myself. I lost track of the number of cattle grids but I will say Trailwings are crap on gravel :yikes

It was a great day finished off with a high speed blast in the company of Vern back to Worcester. He will, I' sure  , want everyone to know he pulled at the petrol station in Clyro on the way back  . Have you called her yet Vern? :dabone

If you'd like to see far more of the scenery around the Llyn Brianne resevoir, even riding across the dam wall, then consider entering the Cambrian Rally in October.

We use as many gravel forestry roads as possible and a little more demanding off-road occasionally, but it's all very do-able on a GS (I set the course on my GSA), and you get to ride places your not normally allowed to, you'll be in danger of getting "fantastic scenery overload" - I'll post more details closer to the event.

I think I need to do an off-road experience first Bob, I was worried by the gravel in the middle of the roads that Gerry took us down  :D

Then I need to get shot of the Deathwings my bike came with - just waiting for Vern's next TKC80 offer :thumb

I might come and spectate a bit though :bounce1
