Well done Gerry-Great roads and a cracking pace for such a large group
Nice to meet some of the Midlands contingent-you were blessed with unseasonably good weather for Wales
We did manage a few stops along the way,The Drovers Arms didn't exactly look welcoming
Nice to see a 1200 ADV along for the ride (Hi Mark ) any doubts any of you may have over it's "presence" will be quickly dispelled the first time you have one looming large in your mirrors
The eagle eyed among you will have noted the 1150 ADV top box on Mark's 1200,he says it fits with very few modifications.
Looks like you all had a good time, sorry I couldn't make it - was driving all over the Eppynt military ranges on the Saturday, right up to the view point a few miles after the Drovers Arms, putting up marking ready for the Red Kite Rally on the Sunday.
One of the Red Kite Rally special stages was only about 0.5 m from the view point - there were over 100 bikes there on Sunday, including 2 HP2's a 1200GS and a few 1150's.
One of the guys on a HP2 had a really bad day, he drowned it in a water filled tank trap on the first special stage and after the marshals got it going for him he went another 200m and fell off and broke his collar bone
The second HP2 was ridden by the new slimline version of Phil Gunn, and he was making it fly - made a 950 KTM look slow in comparison.
Judging by the pictures it looked look a good turnout of 1150's and 1200. Just wondering, as I've not been on any GS rideouts, whether old blokes on old 1100's are welcome? Regards.
I was there on my old 1100,it's all these tossers that keep getting in the way on their 1150's and 1200's that cause me the bother. You're more than welcome to stand in the hard corner with me next time out(cus I get scared easily )
