Hi All,

Kev, my other half, is heading to Siberia in August 2012.

He's going to be riding from Magadan home. :blagblah

So he's expecting to be arriving at the Russia/Europe border round about the 3rd week in September.

I'm going to head over that direction and meet him, but would like to make a trip of it so am planning heading off round about the 10th September.:D

I'm looking for some travelling companions:pullface

It's still a while away and I've no route planned as yet, but am absolutely flexible:thumb2

Cheers:aidan

would love it but it's subject to me ever getting on a bike again... consultant on the 12th Nov for yet another round of talks and decisions...

I'm trying ..

to talk Lizzie into it..:blagblah
Just dont know what job she's gonna have nearer the time.
How far are you going, are you taking in any sights and major cities etc?
Would presume youre not going to enter Russia?

Me and the wife are heading that way then. Some friends are getting married in Slovakia on the 16th and we were planning to head off on the 10th.

I'm looking to visit colditz, stalag luft 3 and aushwitz before dropping down into Eastern Slovakia but no firm plans as yet, but motorway avoidance and scenic roads are at the top of my list

Always nice to ride in company, my wife gets fed up with me droning on each night!

What are your plans?

Steve

Tbh Paul I'm open to any/all suggestions.
Not sure bout Russia, it would be easier for me to stick to countries that don't involve visas!

Hi Steve,
We visited Auschwitz in 2008 but arrived very late in the day so would really like to go back and see more.

Motorway avoidance and scenic roads sound good:thumb2
There are a few places I would like to see, the Wieliczka Salt Mine near Krakow, the Church of Bones in Kutna Hora, Czech Republic. I'm sure there are loads of other places, just need to do the research:thumb2

There's a thread up in the Eastern European Section with a few ideas of interesting places in Romania:bounce1

Plans are still quite vague at the moment:augie

more details..

Providing Garth and still have jobs we will try and join you,I may find some more bods yet, i havnt pinged the idea round yet.should be fun.

Lizzie said it will prob be too cold, she's a wooos.

Hey Paul,

Seems Kev'll be home sooner than originally thought(:bounce1 for me;:comfort for him)

Looks like he'll be arriving back into Eastern Europe around the last week in August/beginning Sept.

So I'm thinking of heading off 25ish(veryish) August and heading towards Ukraine:roll

It's getting very exciting here these last few days as Kev's been ordering stuff and every evening opening post is a bit like Christmas morning:thumb

Would presume youre not going to enter Russia?
I think I'd like to go as far as Ukraine:blagblah

With that in mind I checked up on what's needed to get into Ukraine and whilst you don't need a visa, there is a border crossing and they'll check all paperwork and it is suggested that all paperwork correspond - ie have the same name on passport, licence, insurance docs, v5 etc.

So, I've had to change my name by deed poll to get a British passport with my name on, cos due to many red tape and silly parental choices(by my parents) my Irish passport isn't in the name that I commonly use.:blast

Anyway, it'll all be good!!! After nearly 40 years it'll all be straightforward! Should've done it years ago:rob

Our dates are a little more concrete now:D

Gary (5 eyes) and his brother Ned are shipping their bikes to Katowice mid August and are planning on flying out on 5/6th Sept. There is an artic leaving Dublin mid August so plenty of room for other bikes:pullface

I'm still hoping to go out 30th August. I will prob ship my bike out with the lads' bikes as I don't really want to travel alone that far:comfort

If I ship the bike my plan is to fly to Katowice on 30th August, pick up the bike and head to the Ukraine to meet Kev and Mark:bounce1:roll

We would then be travelling back into Poland to Rzeszow then heading south into Slovakia to a little town called Stebnicka Huta. Then travelling along the Tatra mountains and into Czech Republic where we plan to visit the Church of bones in Kutna Hora. :thumb

Then we'll just keep heading west, probably taking in Bavaria and some of the Black Forest on our way home:bounce1

The plan is to be back in Ireland for 13/14th September:D

Anyone up for it?!:aidan

Hi Mide,

I plan to leave the UK on the 30/31 of August, heading east, Slovakia, Czech Republic etc.

Dave

Hey Dave,

How long are you planning on going for?

Have you any interest in shipping the bike to Katowice? Only €100:thumb
