Easy/budget friendly way to listen to music on bike.

Hi,

Would like some suggestions on the easiest way to listen to music on the bike (with good sound quality) without costing an arm and a leg.

I have a 2015 GS LC with Nav VI and a Samsung Galaxy S9+.

Second hand scala rider g9x on eBay. Loads about for about £50. Used one for a few years and great quality
 
Load your iTunes library onto an SD card and put it in your Nav (they need to be in MP3 format)
Don't forget to transfer across any system files that are on the original SD card (in the battery bay of the Nav)

Select "Apps" then find the MP3 player and Robert be your mothers brother.
 
Freedconn headset off ebay COLO or T max -£35 to £50 new (used both and work fine -T Max has longer batttery life --8hrs+) . Bluetooth to NAV Vi . Either put music on an SDcard in Nav Vi OR play it off phone (bluetoothed to NAV) . Music from phone can be from MP3 stored on phone or from any source you can play on phone e.g. Spotify \Radioplayer etc. You have to start the app on the phone before you set off but can then some control over it from the NAV via media player, you can pause\play skip tracks change volume either by headset or "volume balance" on NAV tools in MEdia player. Be aware that spotify radioplayer on phone will use data but works very well in practice depending on which mobile network you are on. Playing radio for 4-5 hours seems to use about 200 -300mb of data as a rough guide.
 
on the iPhone you can stream music using spotify to the nav v1 then st to a cheap bluetooth headset.....would have thought the samsung offered that ?

the easiest and cheapest would be to have music on your phone, use external ear buds, place in ears, helmet on , off you go .
 
I use Spotty on my phone BT to senna HS

Nav is nav instructions only, BT to Senna HS

havnt tried it any other way yet

dont buy a cheap 3.5 phono BT amp off ebay

they have such a low power output, over 50 mph you can hear sod all

What phone do you use? I'm about to sell my Packtalk BOLD because the volume is too low in calls. No issue with my Sena 20S though. I don't connect mine through the Nav VI because of the bluetooth issues it has with phone calls

Never had a problem with the Nav volume --have you tried balancing the volumes on the Nav 6 so they are all set to a suitable level ?. -- "balancing the volume between "Navigation" "Media" and "Phone". Go to the "Volume" button on the Nav VI, click on the wrench icon top left corner, there you will see the option to choose the Mixer which has sliders for the three functions."
Also need to set the volume level on the headset in conjunction with the mixer levels above.

Well I've been into that screen though I'm not sure that I have played around with it quite in the way you have suggested, especially in conjunction with the headset. Thanks, I'll give it a go.

Agree with this. Preload songs from Spotify as a downloaded playlist and either corded comfy ear plugs (should last 8 hours plus depending on phone) or Bluetooth earplugs (should last say 3 hours ish depending on earplugs). If got nav vi then can link phone and therefore songs via Bluetooth so songs cut out for nav instructions etc

I use a Taotronics TT-BR05 bluetooth receiver connect to 3.5 Jack plug in ear speakers and a bargain at less than £20 for both. This is bluetoothed to my Nav V, allowing me to listen to music and directions.
The receiver is 50x25x10mm and very light, it lives in my top pocket and lasts approx 2 days of touring on one charge.
I only use one speaker as this gives me better spatial awareness, the other ear gets a regular plug. Please note - it is illegal to use in ear speakers in France and Spain.
 
Well I bought a Cardo Scala Freecom 2, not the cheapest option but wanted reasonable audio quality.

I have bluetoothed that to my phone and the Nav VI but I am a bit confused as what app to use and what to start first.

This afternoon I started my music player on my phone to play music but when I got on my bike the headset connected to the Nav VI and stopped the music, I had to go into the bluetooth menu and disconnect the Nav VI.

Ideally I would like to play mp3 using the phone so I am able to see album art etc but still have control of volume etc using the scroll wheel, is this possible and is so how do I set it up?

Not played mp3's through Nav VI yet but I'm guessing this won't display album art or will it?

Just spotted a video on youtube showing the Nav 6 streaming mp3's and it does show album art, just imho it looks ugly, would rather use phone for this.
