Just Lost out on another auction, this time i placed my bid which was stated as the highest bid and watched the countdown, refreshing the screen every minute or so.........and then when the auction finished I found out i had been outbid on the item.

Is there some sort of automatic ebay bidder software that gazumps you at last minute ??

If anyone knows of any let me know your thoughts.

Yes, there are lots. It's called sniping. If you register with one of the sites it will automatically place a bid on your behalf in the dying seconds. Of course the bid you place with the sniping service must be higher than what the auction price has reached otherwise it still won't work.

One of them is called snipe and they will outbid you up to the maximum bid. there are various others that are available as well. They mostly cost money but some are free.:comfort

google for 'Sniper'
Thats at least one of probably many.

The way i use ebay is to decide how much in total i want to spend on a particular item
(including carriage). Put a bid in that reflects that and just wait.
If it goes over my SET amount. It was more than i wanted to pay, and someone else wanted to pay more.
If it comes in LESS than the amount i wanted to pay ...i consider that a bargain. Ebay will bid automatically for you upto your highest amount and it will do it to the last second..

You do exactly the same with sniping except your bid is held until the last few seconds so that someone else won't have time to bid that extra couple of pounds more.

If you leave it to ebay you will miss out if your up against something like snipeswipe etc. they react quicker than an auto bid from ebay, thats how they work. I pay $4 per month for snipeswipe and its saved plenty of dosh. The only problem you get is if you come up against someone else using the same software

you can just do it manually. Enter your highest bid in the last 10seconds - normally works.

............. who has bid more than you have.

Bidmate gives you 3 free bids/week and is very good with customised settings.

I've used Auction Sniper which has the idea of bid groups i.e. you can get it to bid on similar items until you win one of them.

I use it if there is an item I want, but I might bid more in the excitement of things. This way I just set the price and don't go anywhere near it.

Just Lost out on another auction,

You lose out when you don't bid enough, nothing to do with snipe programmes. :nenau

Bid your max price, if someone bids more you wouldn't have won it no matter what programme you use.

If you do win it then you've proved you were willing to pay more than anyone else. Thats how auctions work .

Hi

I use ezsniper.com a lot. It uses servers close to eBay and eBay time to ensure your automatic bid is placed in the last 3 seconds.

It wont beat an earlier bid that was higher but it will beat anything else. Logically there should be no need to use a sniping service as everybody should bid once with the highest price they are prepared to pay, but in practice most bidders are prepared to bid more if someone bids against them.

ezsniper charges 1% of the winning price and I am sure it has saved me a great deal more than that.

Auction Sentry Deluxe

Hi

This is a vote for Auction Sentry, I use the deluxe version upgrades are free and you pay a licence fee each year $9.65, it automatically updates/synchronises your system with Ebay time and you can use as many Ebay registered accounts that you have. When you fire up the software it checks your registration is valid and if there are any updates.
Ebay constantly changes the way it works so find it important to get something that updates as needed.
It also constantly checks for changes to any of the auctions that you have an interest in and notifies you of any changes and places your bid as necessary.

I have found it very useful.:thumb

I use www.goofbay.com its free and it has lots of other useful tools like searches for mis-spelt items and the ammount of discount sellers will give with "make an offer"
The idea of sticking in a bid and waiting is a waste of time because EBAY is not like a normal auction because everyone knows the exact end time. It amuses me when people bid 4 or 5 times to become the highest bidder when there is still hours or days to run. All this does is bump up the price.:nenau
