Eco Mode missing 2021 R1250GS

In your shoes I'd be wanting the same clarity believe me! It's almost like they've cleverly worded it so that they can say it's got an Eco mode when all it is is a bar to tell you when you're riding "optimally" for fuel efficiency. Which if it is, isn't a "mode" and more a guide so I'd be a little unhappy they had worded it as such. Hopefully the dealer will be able to clear up the mess for you soon

I agree with both, it's the clarity of what the offer is that's needed. I'd be the same, Most probably never use it but it'd do my head in knowing it wasn't working the way it should. probably a bit of OCD

I can confirm that the latest software is: 022_005_041. Just got my bike back after having aux lights fitted, they had to update before they could activate them.

So what does Eco mode do ?

Save fuel ?

adjust the power mapping etc ?

Why would you or is instead of rain mode

As I said before, I will never need Eco mode in my life as if I need more fuel economy my right hand knows how to control the throttle.
As for selecting or not selecting the Eco mode, it works on my bike, it's just a question of how wierd way it is to select it.
I just wanted to know that everything is OK and working well on new bike. I hate the idea that I've spent a fortune for the bike and something was wrong with it.

If I was you , I’ll be checking that your splines are lubed read my post regarding splines, enjoy your new bike.

Yes. The dealer installed the last firmware version and everything started working as it should have from the factory. Dealer's guess was that the firmware installation during the manufacturing process didn't go well and reinstalling it solved the problem.

I tried Eco mode once out of curiosity. Apart from the little green bar displaying on the dash, as you would expect throttle response is dulled and power is reduced right down.

If you’re in no hurry and just pottering along this is all fine. You forget about it after a while. However, unlike the last two cars I’ve had with a similar eco mode, there is seemingly no way to quickly override it when needed by just flooring it. This means that if you find yourself half way through what you thought was going to be a gentle overtake, and then need a squirt of extra power to get yourself out of trouble, I’m afraid you’ll be out of luck.

Like I said, I tried it once, but once was more than enough….

I understand i will use it in long trips with cruise control on highways did you saw a difference at consumption?

Don’t know if the 1250 is any different but the 1200 is fairly economic as long as you cruise at around 120 - 125 km/h

As soon as you cruise at 130+ km/h it drinks petrol

I haven’t used it for long enough to say, and probably never will. However I would have thought any fuel savings would kick in by just reducing your acceleration rate. Might make a small difference around town or on the open road but difficult to see how highway cruising consumption would be affected other than by just cruising at a slower speed.

does this mean the dealer doesn't even ride it OR check it over ? they are carrying the liability. i'd want it checked and ridden ,by my mechanic ,if i was a dealer just for my own piece of mind.

I wouldn't like to have ESA because after 35 years of riding I only know standard suspension on motorcycles and how to adjust them. I fine tuned my rear suspension and it is now perfect for my weight and riding style. I just hate not having any adjustment on front suspension (ESA or non-ESA, no GS will bring front suspension adjustment). I don't get it. Such an expensive motorcycle and you can't tune your front suspension.
