A few months ago, Andy Hird mentioned a return trip in 2011 to the Eifels and the ferry was only £90 return, so I thought it woud be rude not to

6 of us went, the brothers Hird, Striker, Colin and Browny for the 4 day jaunt

Forecast was good, so bring it on

We met at the Hull ferry terminal, ready for the off and had a good crossing where Colin, Browny and myself dined in style in the restaurant, whilst the Hirds and Striker dined, courtesy of Subway (something they would not repeat)

Friday dawned dry and bright..........................but freezing (20c-25c colder than the week before in Spain, which was a shock), being the only one without any heated clothing, I nearly died of windchill after a 3 hour 90mph motorway dash

We were soon in the Eifel national park and stopped for lunch at Einruhr, brill cafe

On return to the bar, we found Bambi or so we thought..............but it turned out to be a wild sheep

Beers were needed

Germany2011027.jpg

Overnight it was cold

Germany2011029.jpg

However the wooden chalet had the thermal properties of a blast furnace and anyhow I had Browny to cuddle up to and the others nursed monumental hangovers

Next morning dawned cold & frosty, so we rode over to Wunderlich and then went off doen the Mosel

Hope to have a few days at the Forsthaus in November ... brrrr won't be the first time I've waited for a snow plough to go past so I could drop in behind it :JB

Just as Johnny reports here, we all had a cracking time together. :beerjug:

thanks for that JB.
Looked nice and crisp in the mornings

Wot no laps round the Ring?

Certainly not................ at 26Euro's a lap:blast

Last time I did was in the late 90's when it was 6 DM or £2:rob

Funny how mass popularity and UK press exposure has raised the cost:rolleyes:
